CF Montréal is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1992 as the Montreal Impact (french: Impact de Montréal, links=no), the team began play in MLS in 2012 as an expansion team, the league's nineteenth franchise and third Canadian club, leaving the North American Soccer League. The club rebranded as Club de Foot Montréal in 2021; however, amidst continued discontent and pressure from supporters and local media to the rebrand, the club introduced a revised logo for the 2023 season, with the club being known simply as CF Montréal. In 2015, the Impact became the second MLS club, and first Canadian club, to advance to the final of the CONCACAF Champions League losing to Club América. Saputo Stadium (french: link=no, Stade Saputo) is a soccer-specific stadium at Olympic Park, Montreal, Olympic Park in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The stadium opened on May 21, 2008, and is the current home of CF Montréal (formerly the Montreal Impact). The stadium is built on the former practice track and field site on the grounds of the 1976 Summer Olympics, while the stadium's east side has a view of Olympic Stadium (Montreal), Olympic Stadium's inclined tower. Nelson Rivas
Nelson Enrique Rivas López (born 25 March 1983) is a Colombian football defender. Rivas has not played for a professional team since 2015. Career Rivas began his career with Deportivo Pasto. After playing for several clubs in his native Colombia, Rivas became a fixture for Deportivo Cali. He was a two-time winner of the Copa Mustang in Colombia, first with Deportes Tolima in 2003 and for the second time with Deportivo Cali in 2005. After leaving Cali he played for legendary club River Plate in Argentina. Jesse Marsch
Jesse Alan Marsch (born November 8, 1973) is an American professional soccer coach and former player who is the current head coach of club Leeds United. Marsch played 14 seasons as a midfielder in Major League Soccer (MLS) with D.C. United, Chicago Fire, and Chivas USA, winning three league titles and four U.S. Open Cup titles, as well as earning two caps for the United States national team. In 2010, Marsch retired from his playing career and became a coach, first serving as an assistant with the U.S. national team under Bob Bradley that reached the last 16 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He then became the inaugural head coach of the Montreal Impact upon its entry to MLS in 2012.
