CESI (Education)
CESI, formerly ''Centre des études supérieures industrielles'', is a French graduate engineering school created in 1958. Its headquarters are in Nanterre close to Paris and it is located in 29 campuses in France, Spain, Algeria and Cameroun. The College is member of the Union of Independent Grandes Écoles. History CESI and its engineering school, EI.CESI, were created in 1958 by five industrial groups: SNECMA (now Safran Aircraft Engines), Renault, Télémécanique, Chausson and CEM, in order to deal with for the shortage of production engineers in France and to enable their senior Technicians and Supervisors to upgrade with a Master's degree. At the beginning, CESI was called ''Centre Interentreprises de Formation'' (CIF). Dual Education System
A dual education system combines apprenticeships in a company and vocational education at a vocational school in one course. This system is practiced in several countries, notably Germany, Austria, Switzerland and in the German-speaking Community of Belgium, but also for some years now in South Korea. Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI) is the main committee responsible for evaluation and accreditation of higher education institutions for the training of professional engineers in France. It regulates the issuance of the ''Diplôme d'ingénieur'' and use of the academic title of "''Ingénieur Diplomé"'' (qualified graduate engineer). Established by law on 10 July 1934, CTI does not exist as an independent administrative authority, but is nonetheless an autonomous structure within the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
