CBEW-FM
CBEW-FM (97.5 MHz) is the call sign of the CBC Radio One station based in and serving Windsor, Ontario, Canada. CBEW broadcasts from transmission facilities at McGregor and also reaches the nearby Detroit area and parts of Southwestern Ontario through relay transmitters in Chatham–Kent, Leamington, and Sarnia. History The station first aired in 1935 as CRBC station CRCW 600 AM, which broadcast until 1938 (changing its call sign to CBW in 1937 after the CRBC became the CBC). Between 1938 and 1950, CBC Radio programming was aired on private affiliate CKLW. A CBC-owned station was subsequently relaunched in 1950 using the CBE call sign and 1550 frequency. Regional FM rebroadcasters were added in 1977. On May 9, 2008, the CRTC approved the station's application to launch a low-power nested FM rebroadcaster (CBE-1-FM) in Windsor, at 102.3 FM. CBEF
CBEF (1550 AM) is a non-commercial radio station in Windsor, Ontario. It airs the programming of Radio-Canada's Première network. CBEF is a Class A station broadcasting on the clear-channel frequency of 1550 AM, and is the only full power station on this frequency in Canada. Most clear channel stations broadcast at 50,000 watts, the maximum permitted for Canadian AM stations, but CBEF is powered at 10,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna, located off Talbot Road (Route 3) in Tecumseh, Ontario. CBEF is also heard on three FM rebroadcasters in Southern Ontario. CBEF was launched in 1970. It originally broadcast at AM 540, until taking over the 1550 frequency in 2013. Leamington ( ) is a municipality in Essex County, Ontario, Canada. CBET-DT (channel 9) is a CBC Television station in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The station's studios are located on Riverside Drive West and Crawford Avenue (near the Detroit River) in Downtown Windsor, and its transmitter is located near Concession Road 12 in Essex. The Windsor market, however, was already being served by the Detroit stations across the border. Previously licensed as a standalone television station, it later operated as a semi-satellite of Toronto station CBLFT-DT. It broadcast an analogue signal on UHF channel 35 from a transmitter near Concession Road 12 in Essex.
