CBC Valladolid
Club Baloncesto Ciudad de Valladolid, also known as Real Valladolid Baloncesto by sponsorship reasons, is a Spanish professional basketball team based in Valladolid, Castile and León. The team currently plays in league LEB Oro. History CB Ciudad de Valladolid was founded in June 2015 by the former American-Spanish retired player Mike Hansen with the aim to replace CB Valladolid, the main club of the city, which was dissolved at the end of the 2014–15 season. In its first season, in LEB Plata, Ciudad de Valladolid was relegated after finishing the league with only nine wins in 26 games. However, the club remained the league due to the existence of vacant spots. As other teams in previous seasons, Ciudad de Valladolid took advantage and promoted to LEB Oro in the next season by defeating Fundación Lucentum, Morón and Zornotza in the promotion playoffs. Liga Española De Baloncesto
The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system after the Liga ACB. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories (the other one is the LEB Plata). The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007. The league is contested by 18 clubs. Each season, the top-finishing team in the LEB Oro are automatically promoted to the Liga ACB. The teams that finish the season in 2nd to 9th place enter a playoff tournament, with the winner also gaining promotion to the Liga ACB. The three lowest-finishing teams in the LEB Oro are relegated to LEB Plata. 2020–21 LEB Oro Season
The 2020–21 LEB Oro season was the 25th season of the Spanish basketball second league. It started on 16 October 2020 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 20 June 2021 with the final. It was the following season after the 2019–20 season was curtailed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, there were not relegations to LEB Plata and the league was expanded to 19 teams, record of the league, which was divided into two groups for the first time in its history. On August 27, 2020, FEB and acb agreed a support plan for the league and intended to alleviate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to guarantee the broadcast of all the matches of the league. Spanish Basketball League System
The Spanish basketball league system is a series of connected competitions for professional basketball clubs in Spain. The system has a hierarchical format with a promotion and relegation system between competitions at different levels. Hugo López (basketball)
Hugo López Muñoz (born 29 July 1975) is a Spanish professional basketball head coach of Tokyo Z of the Japanese B.League. He has directed many professional clubs in the past. López was also head coach of the Sweden national team from 2018 to 2021. Playing career López was trained in the sport of basketball with Fórum Valladolid and Northwestern High School in Albion, Pennsylvania. Coaching career López began his career as an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater Northwestern High School in the United States in 2000. He remained in the country for the following season, coaching Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. In 2002, López moved back to his home country of Spain and began serving as an assistant under various head coaches for CB Villa de Los Barrios until 2009.
