Łódź Film School
The Leon Schiller National Film School ( pl, Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Filmowa, Telewizyjna i Teatralna im. Leona Schillera) is a Polish academy for future actors, directors, photographers, camera operators and television staff. It was founded on 8 March 1948 in Łódź (Lodz). History Until 1958, the school existed as two separate schools: one for actors and the other for filmmakers. The schools and the Polish cinema industry were moved from Warsaw to the nearby city of Łódź after World War II. This move was initially seen as a temporary measure, thus the name of the actors' school was The National Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw with seat in Łódź. Its creator and the first rector was the Polish actor Leon Schiller, current namesake of the school. Milenia Fiedler
Milenia Fiedler (born 20 December 1966) is a Polish film editor. She graduated in film editing from Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and obtained her Ph.D. in 2005. Among others, she worked with Andrzej Wajda, Janusz Majewski, Wojciech Marczewski, Jerzy Stuhr and Janusz Zaorski. She is the chairman of the Polish Film Editors Society (''Polskie Stowarzyszenie Montażystów''). Fiedler was nominated for the Polish Academy Award for Best Editing three times (2002, 2008, 2014). In 2002, she won the award for ''Weiser'', for which she also received the Award for Best Editing during the Gdynia Film Festival. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals. Dorota Kędzierzawska
Dorota Kędzierzawska (; born 1 June 1957) is a Polish director of feature and documentary films. Kędzierzawska was born in Łódź. She graduated from the National Film School in Łódź in 1981 but prior to that had completed a course in cultural studies at the University of Łódź and studied film directing in Moscow for two years. Kędzierzawska is the director of several acclaimed films, such as ''Crows'', ''Nothing'', ''I Am'', and ''Devils, Devils''. In her films she concentrates on the experiences of disadvantaged children who contend with a difficult financial situation, rejection by adults, or both. Her characters are usually women, hopelessly fighting for the love of their men. Feliks Falk ps. ''Robert F. Lane'', ''Edward Neyman'' (born 25 February 1941) is a Polish film and theater director as well as writer of film scripts, stage plays, television plays, and radio shows. The 55th Cannes Film Festival started on 15 May and ran until 26 May 2002. The Palme d'Or went to the Polish-French-German-British co-produced film '' The Pianist'' directed by Roman Polanski. The Palme d'Or (; en, Golden Palm) is the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced in 1955 by the festival's organizing committee. Previously, from 1939 to 1954, the festival's highest prize was the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film. Zbigniew Rybczyński
