İZBAN, previously known as Egeray, is a commuter rail system serving İzmir and its metropolitan area, mainly on a north–south axis, via two lines: The Northern Line (IZBAN), Northern Line and the Southern Line (IZBAN), Southern Line. Averaging a daily ridership of 185,000 passengers, it is the busiest commuter rail system in Turkey, slightly ahead of the Marmaray commuter line in Istanbul. İZBAN is a portmanteau of the words "İzmir" and "Banliyö" (''suburb'' in Turkish language, Turkish). Established in 2007 and began operations in 2010, İZBAN was formed to revive old commuter rail in İzmir. As of 2017, İZBAN operates a long system, with 40 stations. İZBAN A.Ş., founded in 2006, operates the railway and is owned 50% by the Turkish State Railways and 50% by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Turkish State Railways
The State Railways of the Republic of Turkey ( tr, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları), abbreviated as TCDD, is a government-owned national railway company responsible with the ownership and maintenance of railway infrastructure in Turkey, as well as the planning and construction of new lines. TCDD was formed on 4 June 1929 as part of the nationalisation of railways in Turkey. The Turkish State Railways own and maintain all public railways in Turkey. This includes railway stations, ports, bridges and tunnels, yards and maintenance facilities. Selçuk station is a railway station in Selçuk, Turkey. The Turkish State Railways operates three regional train services from Izmir to Söke, Nazilli and Denizli, all servicing Selçuk. Menemen Railway Station
Menemen railway station ( tr, Menemen garı) is a railway station at Menemen in Izmir Province, Turkey. The station is served by the Turkish State Railways, the national rail carrier of Turkey. The station is serviced by six trains daily. Northbound trains go to either Bandırma, Ankara, Afyon or Uşak and southbound trains all go to Alsancak Terminal in İzmir. North of the station, the double track branch line to Aliağa splits from the main line. The original station was built in 1866 by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway. History The station was opened in 1866, by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway (SCP). A passenger train from Basmane Terminal in İzmir served the station to Bandırma and Uşak, then Afyon. Tepeköy Railway Station
Tepeköy railway station is a railway station in Torbalı and is the southern terminus of the İZBAN Southern Line. The station was originally opened on 14 November 1861 by the Oriental Railway Company. Aliağa is a town and a district of Izmir Province in the Aegean Region of Turkey. The town is situated at about north of Izmir. Aliağa has a large port, mainly for oil and bulk cargo. Çiğli (''Silleon'' in Greek) is a metropolitan district of İzmir in western Turkey. It covers the northern end of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality around the mouth of the River Gediz, across the Gulf of İzmir from the main city.
