SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile ( zh, 上汽通用五菱汽车股份有限公司, abbreviated as SGMW) is a joint venture between SAIC Motor, General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co Ltd. Based in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in southwestern China, it makes commercial and consumer vehicles sold in China under the Wuling and Baojun marques, respectively. A major mass-volume producer in the Chinese interior, in 2011 SGMW sold 1,286,000 vehicles in China, 1,445,000 in 2012, and aims to sell 2 million cars annually. Wuling Farm () is a tourist attraction farm in Heping District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The farm was originally established in 1963 to provide employment for retired servicemen. At the beginning of the reclamation phase, the first director of the farm led veterans in opening up land to cultivate summer highland vegetables and temperate fruit trees. He then accepted the counsel of the Agricultural Revival Development Committee in setting the farm's management policy. In 1967, the land started to be developed by reforming land, planting fruit trees and setting up the vegetable planning. The farming area was also expanded and mechanical operation methods to effectively boost the efficiency and save on manpower were also developed. In 1986, the first phase of transformation was completed. Wuling (, el 3275 m), formerly known as , is a mountain pass located in Ren'ai, Nantou, Taiwan, transversing the Central Mountain Range near the peak of Hehuanshan within Taroko National Park. It is the highest paved road in elevation in Taiwan. History Originally, a trail was built by the Atayal people at the same location. During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, the Governor-General of Taiwan, Sakuma Samata, ordered the construction of a road through the same trail as part of the Five years plan to governing aborigines to better transport supplies in the Truku War. The pass was named "Sakuma Pass" in the general's honor. After the change of governance to the Kuomintang, the Nationalist government continued to work on the highway. Chiang Kai-shek visited the highway, renaming the site as "Wuling".
