Caminha () is a municipality in the north-west of Portugal, 21 km north from Viana do Castelo, located in the Viana do Castelo District. The population in 2011 was 16,684, in an area of 136.52 km². Caminha is subdivided into 14 civil parishes. The parish Vilar de Mouros is well known for the oldest rock festival in Portugal. The seat of the municipality is the town (or ''vila'' in Portuguese) of Caminha, with 2,500 inhabitants. The town is on the coastal part of the Portuguese Way path of the Camino de Santiago. The present Mayor is Luís Miguel da Silva Mendonça Alves. The municipal holiday is Easter Monday. Ricardo Miguel Martins Alves (born 9 May 1991) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for C.D. Tondela as either a left-back or a central defender. Club career Alves was born in Vila Nova de Cerveira, Viana do Castelo District. He spent his first two years as a senior in the third division with G.D. Tourizense and C.S. Marítimo's reserves, playing 25 matches (24 starts) for the latter during the 2011–12 season as they finished in 12th position but were still promoted to the Segunda Liga, being registered in the competition at the same time as several other reserve teams. Paulo Sérgio Martinho Cabral (born 24 June 1972) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as either a right or left back. Pousadas de Portugal () is a chain of luxury, traditional or historical hotels in Portugal. Formerly run by the Portuguese State, they are now run by the Pestana Group, which in September 2003 won a public bid for the sale of 37.6% of parent company Enatur and for a 40-year running concession.
