The University of Namibia (UNAM) is a multi-campus public research university in Namibia, as well as the largest university in the country. Nico Horn
Johannes Nicolaas Horn is a Namibian Professor of Human rights and Constitutional Law at the University of Namibia (UNAM) since 2002. He holds PhDs in Theology and Law, and was an advocate in the Office of the Prosecutor-General, and Prosecutor in the High Court of Namibia. He worked as UNAM's Director of the Human Rights and Documentation Centre, Dean of the Law Faculty from 2008 until 2010 and also served on the UNAM Governing Council. Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana
Pendukeni "Penny" Iivula-Ithana (born 11 October 1952) is a Namibian politician who served as the secretary general of SWAPO, Namibia's ruling party, from 2007 to 2012. She was a member of the Constituent Assembly of Namibia in 1989 and has been a member of Parliament and member of cabinet since independence in 1990. Iivula-Ithana served in several ministerial positions over a span of three decades. Her last ministerial post was in the interior ministry. Theo-Ben Gurirab
Theo-Ben Gurirab (23 January 1938 – 14 July 2018) was a Namibian politician who served in various senior government positions. He served as the second Prime Minister of Namibia from 28 August 2002 to 20 March 2005, following the demotion and subsequent resignation of Hage Geingob. Previously he was the country's first Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 2002, and was President of the United Nations General Assembly from 1999 to 2000. He was Speaker of the National Assembly of Namibia from 2005 to 2015, when he was replaced by Peter Katjavivi. Gurirab ultimately resigned from politics in 2015. New Era (Namibia)
The ''New Era'' is a daily national newspaper owned by the government of Namibia. The newspaper is one of four daily national newspapers in the country, the others being ''The Namibian'' (English and Oshiwambo), ''Die Republikein'' (Afrikaans) and '' Allgemeine Zeitung'' (German). ''New Era'' was created by the ''New Era Publications Corporation Act of 1992''. According to Ullamaija Kivikuru, it copied the format of ''The Namibian'' in order to establish credibility. Fransina Kahungu (born 1970) is a Namibian female politician serving as a City of Windhoek Councilor, where she previously served as Deputy Mayor of Windhoek in 2016 and 2017 and Mayor of Windhoek from 2019 to 2020. Günter Heimbeck
Günter Heimbeck (born June 23, 1946 in Gunzenhausen, Germany) is a German–Namibian retired professor of mathematics. His particular research interest is geometry; the Heimbeck Planes are named for him. Heimbeck probably is the first and only Namibian scholar to have a scientific sub-discipline carry his name. Heimbeck studied mathematics at University of Würzburg from 1965. He completed his PhD in 1974, and his habilitation in 1981. He then became lecturer at his alma mater. Job Shipululo Amupanda (born 28 August 1987 in Omaalala, Oshana Region) is a Namibian activist and politician who served as Mayor of the City of Windhoek, in office from 2 December 2020 to 1 December 2021. Erold Naomab (born 2 April 1977) is a Namibian academic. He is the vice-chancellor of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). Elizabeth Magano Amukugo (born 1 August 1954, in Windhoek, Khomas Region) is a Namibian politician and academic with the University of Namibia. Early life Amukugo attended Primary education at Onayena Primary School in 1963 to 1970 and received Secondary education at the then Ongwediva Secondary School from which she was expelled for political reasons.
