Troup County (pronounced ) is a county located in the west central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. In the historic period, it was part of a large area controlled by the Muscogee, also known as the Creek people. ''Princess Amelia'' was launched in 1799 and became a packet for the British Post Office Packet Service, sailing from Falmouth, Cornwall. She sailed to North America, the West Indies, Mediterranean, and Brazil. In 1800 a French privateer captured her, but she returned to the packet service later the same year. Joshua Barney, in the American privateer , captured her on 16 September 1812, at the start of the War of 1812. The United states Navy took her into service as HMS ''Georgia'', but then renamed her USS ''Troup''. She served as a guardship at Savannah; the Navy sold her in 1815. Major Walter Troup (16 October 1869 – 14 December 1940) was an English first-class cricketer who was born in Uttar Pradesh, India. He was a member of the inaugural All-India team. He debuted for Gloucestershire in 1887 at the age of 17. A defensive batsman, it is said that he once batted for 95 minutes against Lancashire during a game in 1888 and didn't score a run. Torell Troup (born June 23, 1988) is a former American football defensive tackle. Troup was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at UCF. Robert Scott Troup Order of St Michael and St George, CMG Order of the Indian Empire, CIE Fellow of the Royal Society, FRS (13 December 1874 – 1 October 1939) was a British forestry expert. He spent the first part of his career in Colonial India, returning to England in 1920 to head Oxford's School of Forestry. Education Troup was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and the University of Aberdeen. He then entered Cooper's Hill College, which trained engineers and forest conservators for Indian service; there he trained under William Schlich. Robert Troup (1757 – January 14, 1832) was a soldier in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of New York. He participated in the Battles of Saratoga and was present at the surrender of British General John Burgoyne. Education Born in 1757, in Elizabethtown, Province of New Jersey, British America, Troup graduated from King's College (now Columbia University) in 1774 and read law, with John Jay. At college, he was the roommate of Alexander Hamilton. Career At the start of the American Revolutionary War, Troup joined the Hearts of Oak, a volunteer infantry unit of the New York militia. Rasa Troup (née Michniovaitė) (born March 1, 1977) is a Lithuanian steeplechase runner. She represented Lithuania at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and competed in the inaugural women's 3000 m steeplechase. She is also a registered and licensed dietitian, specializing in health and nutrition, and a full-fledged member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Born and raised in Vilnius from a highly sports-minded family, Troup started out her athletic career as a middle-distance runner, and had won several titles in national junior championships for both indoor and outdoor competitions. Malcolm Troup
Malcolm Troup (22 February 1930 – 8 December 2021) was a Canadian classical pianist, musicologist, academic administrator and teacher, who spent much of his career in London. Early life and education Troup was born on 22 February 1930 in Toronto to Wendela (née Seymour Conway), a musician, and William Troup, a stockbroker who had farmed cattle in Scotland. He received his earliest piano lessons from his mother. He studied with Alberto Guerrero and Norman Wilks at the Toronto Conservatory; Glenn Gould was a fellow pupil and the two became friends. Troup moved to Europe, studying first with Sidney Harrison at the Guildhall School of Music in London (1950–52) and then with Walter Gieseking in Saarbrücken (1954–56), receiving financial support from the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire. Kyle Troup
Kyle Troup (born June 11, 1991) is an American professional ten-pin bowler residing in Taylorsville, North Carolina. He uses the two-handed shovel-style delivery with a dominant right hand. Troup says he needed two hands when learning to throw the ball as a young child, calling himself self-taught in that regard. Troup has been a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since 2008, and began completing full-time on the PBA Tour in 2015. He won his first national PBA Tour title at the 2015 PBA Wolf Open and has nine PBA Tour titles to date, including one major championship and two wins in the PBA Playoffs. Since 2018, Troup also competes internationally as a member of Team USA.
