Tipperary Senior Football Championship
The Tipperary Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Tipperary. The winners of the Tipperary Championship qualify to represent their county in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which advance to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. History Over the decades, the Tipperary championship has been dominated by teams from South Tipperary, with Fethard and Clonmel Commercials leading the roll of honour, though Loughmore-Castleiney from Mid Tipperary strongly challenge and were the 2014 champions. Kilruane MacDonagh's were North Tipperary's last club team to be victorious in 1975, while teams from West Tipperary have also figured in the honours list, including Aherlow who won their first championship in 2006. Clonmel Commercials
Clonmel Commercials GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club located in the town of Clonmel in County Tipperary, Ireland. The club is part of the South Division of Tipperary GAA. They have been Tipperary Senior Football champions on twenty occasions since their formation in 1934. History Affiliated to the GAA in 1934, the club's first taste of county success came in the form of a minor title in 1935. A County Junior title followed in 1940, before the first of the club's 15 Senior titles in 1944. Arguably the club's greatest achievement was winning three county titles in a row in 1965, 1966 and 1967. The captain on all three teams was Brian O'Callaghan. The club's two county titles of the nineties came in 1990 and 1994. Semple Stadium
The Semple Stadium is the home of hurling and Gaelic football for Tipperary GAA and for the province of Munster. Located in Thurles, County Tipperary, it is the second largest GAA stadium in Ireland (after Croke Park), with a capacity of 45,690. Over the decades since 1926, it has established itself as the leading venue for Munster hurling followers, hosting the Munster Hurling Final on many memorable occasions. Facilities The main or 'Old Stand' of the ground (also known as the 'Ardán Ó Coinneáin' or 'Dr Kinane Stand') lies across from the 'New Stand' (also known as the 'Ardán Ó Riáin') both of which are covered. 2019 Tipperary Senior Football Championship
The 2019 Tipperary Senior Football Championship (sponsored by FBD Insurance) was the 129th edition of the Tipperary GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Tipperary, Ireland. The tournament consisted of 16 clubs with the winner going on to represent Tipperary in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship began with a Group stage before proceeding to a knock-out format. The winning Club received the O'Dwyer Cup. Moyle Rovers were the defending champions, however the defence of their title came undone at the semi-final stage when losing to JK Brackens. This was Kilmacthomas' return to the senior grade after claiming the 2018 Tipperary I.F.C. title. This was their return to the top-flight of Tipperary club football, spending 13 seasons in the Intermediate and Junior grades since suffering relegation from the S.F.C. in 2005. The 2020 Tipperary Senior Football Championship (sponsored by FBD Insurance) is the 130th edition of the Tipperary GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Tipperary, Ireland. The tournament consists of 16 clubs with the winner going on to represent Tipperary in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship. John McGrath (Tipperary Hurler)
John McGrath (born 28 July 1994) is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays for Tipperary Senior Championship club Loughmore–Castleiney and at inter-county level with the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a right corner-forward. Playing career Our Lady's Secondary School McGrath first came to prominence as a hurler with Our Lady's Secondary School in Templemore. He played in every grade of hurling before eventually joining the college's senior hurling team. On 24 February 2013, McGrath top scored with 0-05 for the team when they suffered a 2–21 to 1–11 defeat by Dungarvan Colleges in the Harty Cup final. Mullinahone-CJ Kickhams GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association located in Mullinahone, south County Tipperary, Ireland, close to the border with County Kilkenny. Arravale Rovers GAA ( ga, Fánaithe Gleann Árann) is Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in County Tipperary, Ireland. Grangemockler / Ballyneale GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the south-east corner of County Tipperary in Ireland. The club plays Gaelic football and hurling as part of the South division of Tipperary GAA. They have been Tipperary Senior Football Champions on eight occasions. History The club was founded in 1885, one year after the founding of the GAA. The club won its first ever Tipperary senior football championship title in 1890 and had to wait thirteen years before winning again in 1903 when the team won the title five years in a row in 1903, 1904, 1905, 1906 and 1907. The team was beaten the following year and the title was won by Cloneen but returned again in 1909 to take the title once more beating Clonmel Emmets in the final. It was another twenty two years before the team would win the title again in 1931.
