Tinea Semifulvella
''Tinea semifulvella'' is a species of tineoid moth. It belongs to the fungus moth family (Tineidae), and therein to the nominate subfamily Tineinae. It is widespread and common in much of the western Palearctic, but seems to be absent from Portugal and the Balkans as well as the outlying islands (e.g. Iceland). The nocturnal adults are on the wing around May to September, depending on the location, and are easily attracted to light sources. This smallish moth has a wingspan of when adult. They are more colorful than usual for the genus ''Tinea'', though their colors usually fade considerably in dead specimens. The forewings are grey with a brownish tinge at the base, and rusty-red in the outer part. They have a black dot on the edge bordering the hindwings. The latter are a paler and purer grey. The body is dusky grey, but the head has a tuft of brick-red hair. The caterpillars feed on natural fibers, predominantly of animal origin, such as feathers, furs and wool; they have be ...

Tineidae
Tineidae is a family of moths in the order Lepidoptera described by Pierre André Latreille in 1810. Collectively, they are known as fungus moths or tineid moths. The family contains considerably more than 3,000 species in more than 300 genera. Most of the tineid moths are small or medium-sized, with wings held roofwise over the body when at rest. They are particularly common in the Palaearctic, but many occur elsewhere, and some are found very widely as introduced species. Tineids are unusual among Lepidoptera as the larvae of only a very small number of species feed on living plants, the majority feeding on fungi, lichens, and detritus. The most familiar members of the family are the clothes moths, which have adapted to feeding on stored fabrics and led to their reputation as a household pest. The most widespread of such species are the common clothes moth (''Tineola bisselliella''), the case-bearing clothes moth (''Tinea pellionella''), and the carpet moth (''Trichophaga tap ...

Monopis
''Monopis'' is a genus of the fungus moth family (biology), family, Tineidae. Therein, it belongs to the nominate subfamily, Tineinae. A typical feature of these moths is a semi-transparent pale spot near the middle of the forewings. There usually are contrasting white markings adjacent to it. Otherwise, the forewings are generally unpatterned and brown to blackish-grey in color. ''Hyalospila'' is a synonym. The snout moth genus ''Zonula (moth)'' was junior homonym, invalidly described by Ragonot in 1888; the geometer moth genus ''Locha'' was invalidly described by Warren in 1894. Selected species Species currently placed in ''Monopis'' include: * ''Monopis argillacea'' (Meyrick, 1893) * ''Monopis burmanni'' Petersen, 1979 * ''Monopis chrysogramma'' (Lower, 1899) * ''Monopis cirrhospila'' Turner, 1923 * ''Monopis congestella'' (Walker, 1864) * ''Monopis crocicapitella'' (Clemens, 1859) (= ''M. heringi, M. hyalinella, M. lombardica'') * ''Monopis dimorphella'' Dugdale, 1971 * ...

''Praeacedes'' is a monotypic moth genus in the family Tineidae first described by Hans Georg Amsel in 1954. Its only species, ''Praeacedes atomosella'', was first described by Francis Walker in 1863. It has a wide range and has been recorded from Europe (the Canary Islands, Cyprus and Malta), Australia, Hawaii, India, Malaysia, Solomon Islands, Easter Island, Mauritius, Madagascar, Réunion, South America and North America. The species has commonly been misidentified in various parts of the world. The larvae appear to feed on insect detritus and potentially also on mite Mites are small arachnids (eight-legged arthropods). Mites span two large orders of arachnids, the Acariformes and the Parasitiformes, which were historically grouped together in the subclass Acari, but genetic analysis does not show clear evid ...s, and earlier records of them feeding on pigeon dung might be erroneous.
