Telegraph Bay
Telegraph Bay or Kong Sin Wan (), formerly known as Tai Hau Wan (), is a bay in the west shore near Pok Fu Lam, between Sandy Bay and Waterfall Bay on the Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. It is where the Cyberport is located. History In the early colonial days, the bay is marked as Taihowan Bay, a spelling variant of Tai Hau Wan. The name ''Telegraphy Bay'' suggested that it is where the telegraph cable linked to overseas in late 19th century by Cable and Wireless' Hong Kong operations. The indigenous name, Tai Hau Wan (大口灣), means big mouth bay. It is now mistakenly referred to the north end of the bay as Tai Hau Wan (), that is Sandy Bay (), a small bay in adjacent to. Telegraphy is the long-distance transmission of messages where the sender uses symbolic codes, known to the recipient, rather than a physical exchange of an object bearing the message. Pok Fu Lam
Pok Fu Lam or Pokfulam is a residential area on Hong Kong Island, at the western end of the Southern District. It is a valley between Victoria Peak and Mount Kellett, around Telegraph Bay. Pok Fu Lam can claim several ''firsts'' in the history of Hong Kong: It was the place where Hong Kong's floral emblem, ''Bauhinia blakeana'', was first discovered; the site for Hong Kong's first reservoir, Pok Fu Lam Reservoir (1883, now part of a country park), and the site for Hong Kong's first dairy farm by five investors, including Sir Patrick Manson in 1885. The farm supplied not only milk, but cattle to Hong Kong, and later became Dairy Farm. However, it no longer exists in Pok Fu Lam. Sandy Bay, Hong Kong
Sandy Bay (; also known as ) is a bay which is a part of Pok Fu Lam, located at the south of Mount Davis, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The developed area at Sandy Bay is home to numerous facilities including Kennedy School, West Island School, the University of Hong Kong Stanley Ho Sports Centre, numerous hospitals and rehabilitation homes such as the Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital. The Chinese Christian Cemetery was established in 1909 and is one of Hong Kong's largest columbaria. There is a track there which schools can book for use. There is a long jump pit, high jump set up, hurdles and other track and field set ups available at the area. It is opposite Kennedy School. Waterfall Bay, Hong Kong
Waterfall Bay or Pok Po Wan () is a bay in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Located on the East Lamma Channel off the coast of Wah Fu Estate and Cyberport at Telegraph Bay, it is named after the waterfall that flows into it. The fresh water from this waterfall is said to have given the city its name – the translation of Hong Kong's name in Cantonese 香港 means "fragrant harbour". An eponymous park is now situated around the area. Bauhinia Blakeana
''Bauhinia'' () is a large genus of flowering plants in the subfamily Cercidoideae and tribe Bauhinieae, in the large flowering plant family Fabaceae, with a pantropical distribution. The genus was named after the Bauhin brothers Gaspard and Johann, Swiss- French botanists.
