Stevns Municipality
Stevns is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland on the southeast coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in south Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 22,782 (1 January 2019). The municipality covers most of Stevns Peninsula. The third largest town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hårlev. On 1 January 2007 Stevns municipality, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with Vallø municipality to form an enlarged Stevns municipality. Locations The ten largest locations in the municipality are: The town of Store Heddinge The town of Store Heddinge came into existence during the 13th century, and Saint Katharina Church (''Sct. 2005 Danish Local Elections
The Danish local elections of 2005 were held on 15 November 2005. 2522 Municipalities of Denmark, municipal council members were elected in Denmark's 98 List of municipalities of Denmark, municipalities and 205 regional council members in the Regions of Denmark, five regions. Most of these were newly formed municipalities, namely 66 municipalities, that would only begin working from Monday 1 January 2007, as would the newly formed regions, and one municipality, Ærø Municipality, Ærø, which was also part of the Municipalities of Denmark#Municipal Reform of 2007, reform, which was allowed by the government to commence work for the first time already Sunday 1 January 2006. Danish People's Party
The Danish People's Party ( da, Dansk Folkeparti, DPP/DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The DPP lent its support to the Venstre– Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat. While not part of the cabinet, DPP cooperated closely with the governing coalition on most issues and received support for key political stances in return, to the point that the government was commonly referred to as the "VKO-government" (O being DPP's election symbol). Socialist People's Party (Denmark)
The Green Left ( da, Socialistisk Folkeparti, SF) is a democratic socialist political party in Denmark. It was formerly known in English as the Socialist People's Party, the literal translation of its Danish name. History 1959–1969 The SF was founded on 15 February 1959 by Aksel Larsen, a former leader of the Communist Party of Denmark (DKP). Larsen was removed from the ranks of the DKP for his criticism over the Soviet intervention in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Larsen and the new SF sought to form a third way between Denmark's United States-oriented social democracy and Soviet Union–oriented communism, which sought to combine democracy with socialism. The Conservative People's Party ( da, Det Konservative Folkeparti, DKF), also known as The Conservatives () is a conservative centre-right political party in Denmark. The Social Democrats ( da, Socialdemokraterne, ) is a social democratic political party in Denmark. Magleby, Stevns Municipality
Magleby is a village located in the rural parish of Magleby Stevns, seven kilometres northwest of Store Heddinge on the Stevns Peninsula, Stevns Municipality, some 40 km south of Copenhagen, Denmark. As of 1 January 2023, Magleby had a population of 317 in the village and 1,298 in the parish. History The oldest parts of Magleby Church dates from the 12th century. The name Magleby is first recorded in 1346 as Magdlæby. Magle- (mikil) means "large" and the suffix -by means town or village. In the Middle Ages, Magleby belonged to Højstrup Manor until it was sold to the Bishop of Toskilde in 1400 by Folmer Jacobsen Lunge.
