Skindred
Skindred are a Welsh reggae metal band formed in Newport in 1998. Their musical style mixes heavy metal, alternative rock and ragga. The band also integrate elements of punk rock, hardcore punk, reggae, dancehall, jungle, ska, hip hop, drum and bass, dubstep and various other influences into their music. They are well known for their energetic and involving live performances and have won several awards including "Best Live Band" at the 2011 UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards and the "Devotion Award" at the 2011 Kerrang! Benji Webbe
Clive John "Benji" Webbe (born 11 March 1967) is a Welsh singer, best known as the lead vocalist and synthesizer player for the reggae metal band Skindred. Aside from his main project, he is also active in Diamond Spider, Dub War, Mass Mental and his own solo project. He has featured on albums by Bullet for My Valentine and Soulfly. Webbe is a native of Newport, South Wales, and a veteran of the rock explosion of the mid-1990s which led to ''Spin'' magazine dubbing Newport as 'The New Seattle'. Early life Benji Webbe was born Clive John Webbe on 11 March 1967 in Newport to Jamaican immigrant parents. Webbe's father was brought to the UK on the Windrush ship which brought one of the first groups of West Indian immigrants to the United Kingdom. Mass Mental
Mass Mental (also stylized as Mass Mental?) is an American rock band. It was formed in 1995 by former Suicidal Tendencies and current Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and former Dub War and current Skindred singer Clive "Benji" Webbe. History The band was formed when Webbe's band Dub War disbanded after a dispute with their record label, Earache Records, and Webbe had failed to persuade them to let him record a hip-hop solo album. Trujillo was working with Ozzy Osbourne at the time. He recruited Armand Sabal-Lecco as a second bassist and Brooks Wackerman on drums to perform on Mass Mental's only album, ''How to Write Love Songs'', which had begun work in 1995 with producer Mark Dodson and a selection of other musicians. Dub War
Dub War are a four-piece metal band from Newport, Wales. Formed in 1993, the band's musical style is a mix of metal, punk, and reggae. Biography Dub War formed in 1993 in Wales. The band released two albums, via the metal label Earache Records; ''Pain'', released in 1995 and ''Wrong Side of Beautiful'' in 1996. Dub War split in 1999 after disputes with their label. After a short stint with the supergroup Mass Mental, lead singer Benji Webbe went on to form Skindred with Jeff Rose and Martyn Ford. In 2010, Digby Pearson of Earache Records approached Webbe with the idea of releasing a DVD of the then last Dub War show and previous video. The DVD was released as a box set including a CD of rare recordings. Jacoby Shaddix
Jacoby Dakota Shaddix (born July 28, 1976) is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, TV presenter and actor. He is best known as the founding member and the continuous lead singer of the California-based rock band Papa Roach since the band's formation in 1993. Shaddix served as the host of the MTV show ''Scarred (TV series), Scarred'' for the entirety of the show's cycle, presenting both seasons and all 20 episodes of the show, which spanned from April 10 to September 18, 2007. Shaddix would ultimately leave the show due to touring demands with Papa Roach. The name of the show was based on the Papa Roach song "Scars (Papa Roach song), Scars". Crossfaith
Crossfaith (Japanese: クロスフェイス) is a Japanese metalcore band from Osaka that was formed in 2006. Since its formation, the band has retained the same line-up with no member changes, which currently consists of vocalist Kenta Koie, guitarist Kazuki Takemura, bassist Hiroki Ikegawa, drummer Tatsuya Amano and keyboardist Terufumi Tamano. They are characterized by performing a style of metalcore with dubstep and other forms of electronic music influences, and for their intense live performances. Napalm Records is an Austrian independent record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock.
