Joe Kovacs
Joseph Mathias Kovacs (born June 28, 1989) is an American track and field athlete who competes in the shot put and has a personal record of 23.23 meters outdoors and 22.05 meters indoors. He won gold medals at the 2015 and 2019 World Championships. He won silver medals at the 2017 World Championships, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. His personal best of 23.23 metres makes him the second best competitor all-time in the shot put event. Since college he was coached by Art Venegas, widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the world and the only coach to have athletes reach 73' with both the glide and rotational techniques in the shot put. Nadzeya Astapchuk ( be, Надзея Мікалаеўна Астапчук, ''Nadzeya Mikalayeuna Astapchuk''; russian: Надежда Остапчук, ''Nadezhda Ostapchuk;'' born October 28, 1980) is a Belarusian shot putter. Natalya Venediktovna Lisovskaya (russian: Наталья Венедиктовна Лисовская; born 16 July 1962) is a Soviet former athlete who competed mainly in shot put. Lisovskaya trained at Spartak in Moscow. Career Born in Alegazy, Bashkir ASSR, Lisovskaya competed for the USSR in the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul, South Korea where she won the gold medal. Lisovskaya holds the world record in women's shot put with a throw of , which she achieved on 7 June 1987 in Moscow, Russia. Viktoriya Anatoliïvna Pavlysh ( uk, Вікторія Анатопіївна Павпиш; born 15 January 1969 in Kharkov, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union) is a former track and field athlete who specialized in the shot put. Pavlysh was stripped of her 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships gold medal after she had tested positive for anabolic steroid stanozolol at the event in Maebashi, Japan. She claimed that she may have taken the drug to aid her recovery from injury. For this offence she received a two-year ban. Five years later at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Budapest, Hungary she won the title again only to fail the drug test for the same reason. She was again stripped of her title and banned from athletics for life. Whether because of her drug-use or not, Pavlysh was famed for her very muscular lower body.
