Sengkang (, , ) is a Planning Areas of Singapore, planning area and New towns of Singapore, residential town located in the North-East Region, Singapore, North-East Region of Singapore. The town is the second most populous in the region, being home to 249,370 residents in 2020. The Driverless train, driverless system consists of 14 stations on two loops, with Sengkang MRT/LRT station, Sengkang station serving as the interchange for both loops and linking the line to the North East MRT line. It is the second Light Rail Transit (Singapore), Light Rail Transit (LRT) line in Singapore and the first LRT line operated by SBS Transit. The SKLRT was planned in tandem with the development of the Sengkang estate. Construction of the LRT stations and viaducts was completed in 2001, and the Land Transport Authority transferred operations to SBS Transit in September 2002. Compassvale
Compassvale is a neighbourhood of Sengkang New Town, and is located between Rivervale and Anchorvale. Compassvale encompasses the Sengkang Town Centre. History There used to be a few low-rise flats along Punggol Road with a defunct road named Buangkok South Farmway 1 leading into the estate. It was part of a rural centre built by HDB in the late 1970s. These flats were cleared by mid-2000s for further developments in the vicinity. Sengkang Group Representation Constituency
The Sengkang Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north-eastern region of Singapore. It was created from Punggol East Single Member Constituency (SMC), Sengkang West SMC and the then-ward of Sengkang Central in Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC. Sengkang GRC consists of four divisions: Buangkok, Anchorvale, Compassvale and Rivervale.
