Seattle Seawolves
The Seattle Seawolves are an American professional rugby union team based in Tukwila, Washington. The team was founded in 2017 and competes in Major League Rugby (MLR), the top-level rugby union competition in the United States that began play in 2018. The Seawolves won two MLR championships in 2018 and 2019, and lost in the 2022 final. They play at Starfire Sports, a 4,500-seat stadium in Tukwila that primarily serves soccer teams. History The team was founded in 2017 by an investor group headed by Adrian Balfour and Shane Skinner. The Seawolves won the inaugural MLR Grand Final in 2018, and defended the title in the 2019 Major League Rugby Championship. In the final on June 16, 2019, the Seattle Seawolves defeated San Diego Legion 26–23 at Torero Stadium on the campus of the University of San Diego. Tukwila ( ) is a suburban city in King County, Washington, United States, located immediately to the south of Seattle. The population was 21,798 at the 2020 census. Dan Power (born 6 January 1983) is an Australian-born American former rugby union player for the United States national rugby union team and current Rugby commentator. Playing career Power was born in Brisbane, Australia. He attended Iona College, Brisbane, graduating in 1999. He was a member of AS Carcassonne in the French Elite 1 League before joining the New York Athletic Clubs (NYAC) Rugby team that plays in the American Rugby Super League (RSL). Taniela "Tani" Tupou (born December 13, 1992) is an American football defensive tackle for the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL. He played college football at the University of Washington. He also plays rugby for the Seattle Seawolves of Major League Rugby (MLR). His position is at prop. Early years Tupou attended Archbishop Murphy high school in Everett, Washington where he played football as a strongside defensive end and as a tight end.
