Sandino, Cuba
Sandino is a municipality and town in the Pinar del Río Province of Cuba. The town is located close to the coast and as such, fishing is the main economic resource of this place. It is also the gateway to the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. History The municipality was named after the Nicaraguan revolutionary, Augusto César Sandino. In January 2019 Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Sandino became the first Catholic church in Cuba to be inaugurated since the Cuban Revolution. Geography Located in the westernmost area of Cuba, the municipality borders with the territories of Guane and Mantua. Its westernmost point is Cape San Antonio (''Cabo de San Antonio''), on the Guanahacabibes Peninsula. Caribbean Sea
The Caribbean Sea ( es, Mar Caribe; french: Mer des Caraïbes; ht, Lanmè Karayib; jam, Kiaribiyan Sii; nl, Caraïbische Zee; pap, Laman Karibe) is a sea of the Atlantic Ocean in the tropics of the Western Hemisphere. José Ariel Contreras Camejo (born December 6, 1971), is a Cuban former professional baseball pitcher, who played in the Cuban National Series (CNS), Major League Baseball (MLB), and internationally for the Cuban national baseball team. The ''Carretera Central'' (CC), meaning "Central Road", is a west-east highway spanning the length of the island of Cuba. History Formal construction began in 1927 during the Gerardo Machado administration. It runs along the island of Cuba from west to east, between Pinar del Río and Oriente. La Fé (Sandino)
La Fe (Spanish for " The Faith") is a Cuban village of the municipality of Sandino, in Pinar del Río Province. It is part of the ''consejo popular'' ("people's council") of Cayuco. Geography Located in a recess of the Guadiana Bay (''Bahía de Guadiana''), close to the Guanahacabibes Peninsula and its national park, it is one of the westernmost places in Cuba, from Cape San Antonio, the island's western extremity. It is from the nearby village of Cayuco, from Sandino and from Pinar del Río. Transport The village counts a little port and a road linking it to the villages in Guanahacabibes peninsula. Pinar del Río is the capital city of Pinar del Río Province, Cuba. With a population of 139,336 (2004) in a municipality of 190,332, it is the List of cities in Cuba, 10th-largest city in Cuba. Inhabitants of the area are called ''Pinareños''. History Pinar del Río was one of the last major cities in Cuba founded by the Spanish, on September 10, 1867. The city and province was founded as ''Nueva Filipinos, Filipinas'' (New Philippines) in response to an influx of Asian laborers coming from the Philippine Islands to work on tobacco plantations.
