Süper Lig
The Süper Lig (, ''Super League''), officially known as Spor Toto Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons, is a Turkish professional league for association football clubs. It is the top-flight of the Turkish football league system and is run by the Turkish Football Federation. In the 2022–23 season, nineteen clubs compete, where a champion is decided and three clubs are promoted from, and relegated to the 1. Lig. The season runs from August to May, with each club playing 36 matches. Matches are played Friday through Monday. The competition was initially established in 1923. The league succeeded the Turkish Football Championship and the National Division, both being former top-level national competitions. The Süper Lig is currently 20th in the UEFA coefficient ranking of leagues based on club performances in European competitions over the last five years. Muzaffer Badalıoğlu (13 November 1960 – 20 January 1989) was a Turkish footballer who last played as a defender for Samsunspor, and also appeared for the Turkey national football team. Mete Adanır
Mete Adanır (14 November 1961 – 20 January 1989) was a Turkish Cypriot football forward who played for clubs in England and Turkey. Career Born in Limassol, Cyprus, Adanır began playing youth football for local side Doğan Türk Birliği. He moved to England in September 1979 to pursue higher education. While studying, he joined Leyton Orient F.C.'s youth side. Six months later, he signed with the senior side and began playing with the reserves. However, the club was unable to get clearance from the Cyprus football association and cancelled his registration. Still living in England, Adanır played in an Arab youth tournament where he was scouted by Turkish Süper Lig club Altay S.K. He joined Altay at the beginning of the 1981-82 season, and would spend four seasons with the club, three of them in the first division. Malatya Spor Kulübü is a Turkish sports club based in Malatya, mainly concentrated on football. Previously their colors were yellow and black (prior to 1984). They played in First League for 11 seasons. They are the first team located in Eastern Anatolia which qualified for a European cup, 2003–04 UEFA Cup. Sakaryaspor Kulübü Derneği is a Turkish professional football club, formed in 1965 after the merger of ''Adapazarı Gençlerbirliği'', ''Adapazarı İdman Yurdu'', ''Güneşspor'' and ''Ada Gençlik''. The club is better known as Sakaryaspor. The football club is nicknamed the "Football Factory" by Turkish football scene because of the many national footballers born and raised in the city. Kocaelispor is a Turkish football club based in İzmit. They were founded in 1966 and played in the top level between 1980–1988 and 1992–2003. Uşakspor was a Turkish football club located in Uşak. They play their home games at 1 Eylül Stadium in Uşak. The club was founded in 1967 and played in Second League between 1967–1968, 1970–1975, 1982–1983, 1987–1988, 2005–2007. It suffered financial problems and the team was relegated to the Third League over two seasons. It finally withdrew after 18 matches and will be played in Amateur League at next season. Tanju Çolak
Tanju Çolak (born 10 November 1963 in Samsun) is a Turkish retired footballer who played as a striker. Club career He made his debut for Samsun Yolspor. From there he was transferred to Samsunspor in 1981 where he was the top scorer in both the 1985–86 and 1986–87 seasons. Çolak then moved to Galatasaray in the end of 1986–87 season. He was the top scorer in Europe with 39 goals in the 1987–88 season. At the same time, he was awarded the European Golden Boot given by France Football. He is the only Turkish footballer to date to win this award. Çolak became the top scorer again in the 1991–92 season, and transferred to Fenerbahçe at the end of the season. He had a lifetime total of 240 goals and took over the title of top goal scorer in the Turkish Super League by breaking the legendary record of Metin Oktay.
