Run-on
In hydrology, run-on refers to surface runoff from an external area that flows on to an area of interest. A portion of run-on can infiltrate once it reaches the area of interest. Run-on is common in arid and semi-arid areas with patchy vegetation cover and short but intense thunderstorms. In these environments, surface runoff is usually generated by a failure of rainfall to infiltrate into the ground quickly enough (this runoff is termed infiltration excess overland flow). This is more likely to occur on bare soil, with low infiltration capacity. As runoff flows downslope, it may run-on to ground with higher infiltration capacity (such as beneath vegetation) and then infiltrate. Run-on is an important process in the hydrological and ecohydrological behaviour of semi-arid ecosystems. ''Run On'' were an American art rock band based in New York City, formed in 1993. The group originally consisted of Rick Brown, Sue Garner and Alan Licht. This line-up recorded the single ''Days Away'' and released it on Ajax in 1994. The Extended play, EP ''On/Off (Run On EP), On/Off'' was issued through Matador Records, Matador in 1995 and according to Licht a vast improvement over the band's previous effort. Newgarden was replaced by Katie Gentile after the release of Run On's debut album. ''No Way (Run On album), No Way'', released in 1997, found the band exploring acid rock and Music of India, Indian music territories while remaining rooted in classic rock. "God's Gonna Cut You Down" (also known as "God Almighty's Gonna Cut You Down", "God's Gonna Cut 'Em Down", "Run On" and "Sermon") is a traditional American folk song. It was first recorded by the Golden Gate Quartet in 1946 and first issued in 1947 by the Jubalaires. Since then, the track has been recorded in a variety of genres, including country, folk, alternative rock, electronic and black metal. The lyrics warn evildoers that they cannot avoid God's eventual judgment. As "God's Gonna Cut You Down", it was performed by Odetta on '' Odetta Sings Ballads and Blues'' (1956), Johnny Cash on the posthumously released '' American V: A Hundred Highways'' (2006). Marilyn Manson also used this title for a non-album single in 2019. As "Run On", it has been recorded by Elvis Presley and Tom Jones, and The Blind Boys of Alabama.
