According to the research from 2015, the number of Pyeonghae Hwang clan members was 168,374. Hwang Rak (), a minister in Han dynasty, began the Hwang clan in Korea. When Hwang Rak () was dispatched as an envoy in 28 B.C. during Emperor Guangwu of Han's reign, he was cast ashore on his way to Vietnam and was naturalized in Silla. As a result, , a descendant of Hwang Rak (), became a Pyeonghae Hwang clan's founder. Silla
Silla or Shilla (57 BCE – 935 CE) ( , Old Korean: Syera, Old Japanese: Siraki2) was a Korean kingdom located on the southern and central parts of the Korean Peninsula. Silla, along with Baekje and Goguryeo, formed the Three Kingdoms of Korea. Hwang Young-cho
Hwang Young-cho (born 22 March 1970) is a former South Korean athlete, winner of the marathon race at the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1994 Asian Games. Career Born in Samcheok, South Korea, Hwang was a promising track athlete in his junior years, but after his first marathon in 1991, which he won, decided to specialize in marathon. The Barcelona Olympic marathon was only fourth of his career. He had won two and placed second in his three previous marathon competitions. In Barcelona, Hwang was in the leading pack from the start, but in a slowly run race, this group still numbered thirty runners at the halfway mark. Hwang Sun-hong (born 14 July 1968) is a South Korean former football player and current head coach of the South Korea national under-23 football team. He was the most notable South Korean striker in the 1990s and early 2000s. Club career After graduating from Konkuk University, Hwang decided not to enter the K League and left for Germany to begin his professional career. Sang Min Leo Whang (November 10, 1962 - ) is a South Korean psychologist, author, and popular political commentator. Hwang Pyong-so (born c. 1946 or 1949) is a North Korean general and politician who held the rank of Vice Marshal ( ko, 차수, ''Ch'asu'') in the Korean People's Army (KPA).
