Sriwijaya Football Club, commonly known as Sriwijaya riwiˈdʒajaor SFC, is an Indonesian professional football club based in Palembang, South Sumatra, that competes in the Liga 2, the second tier of Indonesian football. The club was founded on 23 October 2004 after the South Sumatra government bought ''Persijatim Solo FC'', which was based in Surakarta. Their current home stadium is Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium in Jakabaring, southern section of Palembang. The club is widely known by their nickname, ''Laskar Wong Kito'' (Our Warriors). Sriwijaya is the first club in Indonesia which achieves double titles achievement in the same season. History The club was founded in 1976 as Persijatim Jakarta Timur with home base in East Jakarta. Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium
Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, also known as Jakabaring Stadium ( id, Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya; literally "Sriwijaya Sports Arena Stadium"), is a multi-purpose stadium located in Jakabaring Sport City complex in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches. The stadium holds 23,000 spectators. The construction began in 2001 and finished in 2004 to host the 2004 Pekan Olahraga Nasional, 2004 Indonesia National Games. The stadium was initially named as ''Jakabaring'' stadium after the location of the stadium in southern outskirt of Palembang. However, later the stadium was renamed "Gelora Sriwijaya", to honor and celebrate the 7th—13th century Indonesian empire of Srivijaya. 2009–10 Indonesia Super League
The 2009–10 Indonesia Super League was the second edition of this newly born competition (which replaced the Premier Division as the top rank of football system in the country. Persipura Jayapura were the defending champions, having won their first title in the previous season, or the second title if counting the Premier Division era, equalling the record for the most top league titles, along with Persik Kediri. The campaign began on 11 October 2009. A total of 18 teams competed in the league, 14 of which contested the 2008–09 season and four of which were promoted from the Premier Division. 2009 AFC Champions League
The 2009 AFC Champions League was the 28th edition of the top-level Asian club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 7th under the current AFC Champions League title. The final was held at the National Stadium in Tokyo on 7 November 2009. The winners, South Korean club Pohang Steelers, qualified for the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The champions league was expanded to 35 clubs this year, with 5 teams starting from a knockout qualifying stage. An extra stage in the knockout phase was added so that the runners up as well as the winners from the group stage would progress. The previous season winner no longer got a bye through to the knockout round. The 2008–09 Copa Indonesia was the fourth edition of ''Piala Indonesia'', the nationwide football cup tournament in Indonesia, involving clubs from Indonesia Super League, Premier Division and First Division. Sriwijaya FC was the tournament's defending champions. The winner of the tournament qualified to play for 2010 AFC Champions League qualification. 2008–09 Indonesia Super League
The 2008–09 Indonesia Super League was the first edition of the Indonesia Super League, which replaced the Liga Indonesia Premier Division, Premier Division as the top-tier Indonesian football league system, football competition in the country. The league was sponsored by Djarum and was officially called Djarum Super Liga Indonesia (SLI) or Djarum Indonesia Super League (ISL). The 2006 Liga Indonesia Premier Division (also known as the Liga Djarum Indonesia for sponsorship reasons) was the 12th season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division, the top Indonesian professional league for association football clubs. Due to the effects of the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake, PSSI and league organizers announced, in a controversial decision, that no teams would be relegated during the season. The 2018 Liga 1, also known as Go-Jek Liga 1 for sponsorship reasons, was the second season of Liga 1 under its current name and the ninth season of the top-flight Indonesian professional league for association football clubs since its establishment in 2008. The season started on 23 March 2018 and ended on 9 December 2018. Fixtures for the 2018 season were announced on 10 March 2018. Bhayangkara were the defending champions. Persebaya, PSMS, and PSIS joined as the promoted teams from the 2017 Liga 2. They replaced Persegres, Persiba, and Semen Padang who were relegated to the 2018 Liga 2.
