2018 Liga 1 (Indonesia)
The 2018 Liga 1, also known as Go-Jek Liga 1 for sponsorship reasons, was the second season of Liga 1 under its current name and the ninth season of the top-flight Indonesian professional league for association football clubs since its establishment in 2008. The season started on 23 March 2018 and ended on 9 December 2018. Fixtures for the 2018 season were announced on 10 March 2018. Bhayangkara were the defending champions. Persebaya, PSMS, and PSIS joined as the promoted teams from the 2017 Liga 2. They replaced Persegres, Persiba, and Semen Padang who were relegated to the 2018 Liga 2. Persija won their first Liga 1 title, and second Indonesian top-flight title overall on the final day of the season, finishing on 62 points. 2017 Liga 2
The 2017 Liga 2 was the inaugural season of the Liga 2 under its current name, and the eighth season under its current league structure. Persebaya won the title after a 3–2 win over PSMS in the final at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Bandung on 28 November 2017. Overview Player regulations Starting this season Liga 2 was an under-25 tournament (born on or after 1 January 1992), with a maximum of five overage players allowed. Teams are no longer allowed to use foreign players and were allowed to have a maximum of 30 players. Format The league was divided into eight groups containing 7–8 teams each. The top two teams from each group qualified for the next round, while teams ranked fifth and below were relegated to the Liga 3. This arrangement was made to reduce the large number of participants (61) in 24 teams in the 2018 season. The season started on 15 May 2019 and finished on 22 December 2019. Fixtures for the 2019 season were announced on 7 May 2019. Persija were the defending champions. PSS, Semen Padang, and Kalteng Putra joined as the promoted teams from the 2018 Liga 2. They replace Mitra Kukar, Sriwijaya, and PSMS who were relegated to the 2019 Liga 2. Persatuan Sepakbola Serui, commonly known as Perseru Serui, or Perseru, was an Indonesian football club based in Yapen Islands Regency, Papua. Their nickname is ''The Orange Cendrawasih''.
