Persatuan Sepak Bola Indonesia Bantul, commonly known as Persiba Bantul, is a semi-professional Indonesian football club based in Bantul, Yogyakarta. They currently compete in the Liga 3. History Persiba Bantul was established on 21 September 1967. 2004 marked a milestone in Persiba's history, after waiting for 37 years, they were promoted to the First Division. Drs. H.M. Idham Samawi plays a major role in this success, by helping them gaining financial support from the local government. In 2005, PSSI loaned Persiba to use the Indonesia U-20 players in the First Division. In 2006, Persiba was forced to quit the 2006 First Division because of the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake. They returned in 2007 and after almost got promoted in 2008–09 and 2009–10, they won the 2010–11 Liga Indonesia Premier Division by defeating Persiraja 1–0 and promoted to the Indonesia Super League. The Indonesian football league system is a series of league system for association football clubs in Indonesia. Since 1994, Liga Indonesia is the league competition featuring association football clubs, as a result of two existing top-flight football leagues merger: Perserikatan (amateur) and Galatama (semi professional). Piala Indonesia ( 'Indonesia Cup') is the professional annual cup competition for football clubs in Indonesia. Originally, it started from the semi-professional football era in 1985 as Piala Liga, which ran until 1989 under Galatama competition. The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) organized the full professional cup competition from 2005 until now. Traditionally, the tournament involves all the clubs from the whole layers in football competitions in Indonesia, which are Liga 1, Liga 2, and Liga 3. The competition was founded in 2005. 2014 Indonesia Super League
The 2014 Indonesia Super League was the sixth season of the Indonesia Super League (ISL), a fully professional football competition as the top tier of the football league pyramid in Indonesia. The season was scheduled to begin in January 2014, but in the end PSSI decided that the competition would begin on 1 February 2014 and possibly end on 7 November 2014. Competition schedule was released on 17 January 2014 by PT Liga Indonesia in Jakarta. Persipura were the defending champions, having won their fourth league title in 2013.
