Ozone Park is a neighborhood in the southwestern section of the New York City boroughs of New York City, borough of Queens, New York (state), New York, United States. It is next to the Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park, Queens, South Ozone Park, a popular spot for Thoroughbred racing and home to the Resorts World New York City, Resorts World Casino & Hotel. Home to a large Italian-American population, Ozone Park has also grown in recent decades to have many residents of Caribbean, Hispanic, and Asian backgrounds. Area Code 917
Area code 917 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan for the entirety of New York City. It is an overlay code to all numbering plan areas (NPAs) in the city, and was intended to serve cellular, pager, and voicemail applications in the city. The restriction was subsequently ruled impermissible by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) which grandfathered that use in New York City. Area code 917 is also assigned to landlines predominantly in Manhattan, to relieve the shortage of numbers there. History The original area code for all of New York City's boroughs was 212, established with the North American Numbering Plan in 1947. Conduit Avenue (Conduit Boulevard in Brooklyn) is an arterial road in New York City, the vast majority of which is in Queens. The divided highway runs from Atlantic Avenue (New York City), Atlantic Avenue in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn to Hook Creek Boulevard in Rosedale, Queens at the Nassau County, New York, Nassau County border. The thoroughfare is named after an aqueduct (water supply), aqueduct in its Right-of-way (transportation), right-of-way. Conduit Avenue and Conduit Boulevard were conceived in 1921 as part of the Conduit Highway, later the Sunrise Highway, with the original highway opening in 1929. The highway was expanded in 1940 as part of the construction of the Belt Parkway.
