Orkanger IF
Orkanger Idrettsforening is a Norwegian sports club from Orkanger, Sør-Trøndelag. It has sections for association football, team handball, track and field, orienteering, Nordic skiing, swimming, gymnastics, powerlifting and dancing. It was founded on 1 January 1901. On 12 September 1947 it incorporated the clubs Orkanger TF and IL Njardar. In 1953 it lacked sections for handball, swimming, powerlifting and dancing, but had a section for speed skating. Jan Tore Ophaug started his career here. The club was coached by Harald Sunde (playing coach) from 1975 to 1977 and Roger Albertsen from 1989 to 1992. The men's football team played in the Second Division, the third tier of Norwegian football from 1995 to 1997. In 1997 it was relegated, but from 1998 it joined forced with neighbor and rival Orkdal IL to field the team Orkdal IL/Orkanger IF (OIL/OIF), still in the Second Division. Orkanger
Orkanger is a town and the administrative centre of Orkland municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The town is also a former municipality which existed from 1920 until 1963. The town sits at the end of the Orkdal Fjord, an arm of the Trondheimsfjord. Orkanger is the commercial centre of the municipality of Orkland and it is the site of the Orkanger Church. It was established as a "town" in 2014. Combined with the neighbouring suburban village of Fannrem, the conurbation constitutes one of the largest urban areas in Trøndelag county. The town has a population (2018) of 8,204 and a population density of . Just north of Orkanger lies the port of Thamshavn. Until 1974, Orkanger had a station on the Thamshavn Line railway with the Thamshavn Station just north of the town. Roger Albertsen
Roger Albertsen (15 March 1957 – 2 March 2003) was a Norwegian football midfielder. Club career At the age of 17 he travelled abroad, playing professionally for Dutch team FC Den Haag. He later played for Feyenoord Rotterdam, KFC Winterslag and Olympiakos, before he returned to Norway in 1985, making his debut in the Norwegian Premier League for Rosenborg. Netherlands Albertsen began his career with local lower-division sides Tyssedal and Odda. He was regarded as a promising talent, and represented Norway several times at youth level. Nonetheless, it came as something of a shock when he left the country at age 17 to try his luck in the Netherlands, joining his compatriot Harald Berg's old club Den Haag. Orkdal IL
Orkdal is a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020 when it joined Orkland Municipality. It was part of the Orkdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the city of Orkanger. Some of the notable villages in the municipality included Kjøra, Geitastrand, Gjølme, Thamshavn, Fannrem, Vormstad, Svorkmo, and Hoston. Agriculture plays a significant role in the municipality.
