Oofotr Albums
Oofotr is a Norwegian music group consisting of jazz musicians from Narvik. They arrange traditional music from Ofoten and had their debut in Kjeldebotn Church, 1994 with music contributions from local historian Magnus Pettersen from Ballangen. After a series of performances on the north Norwegian music and album, belonged new material from Tromsø Museum and a second album in 2001. The band combines ambient and world music and is partly inspired by Sandbakk's engagement with the Trondheim choir Chorus, as in 1981–82 recordings of Ballangen music. "Oofotr" comes from Ofoten in Aslak Bolt's land register. Narvik
( se, Áhkanjárga) is the third-largest municipality in Nordland county, Norway, by population. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Narvik. Some of the notable villages in the municipality include Ankenesstranda, Ballangen, Beisfjord, Bjerkvik, Bjørnfjell, Elvegård, Kjøpsvik, Skjomen, Håkvik, Hergot, Straumsnes, and Vidrek. Ballangen
Ballangen ( sme, Bálák) is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1925 until its dissolution in 2020. The municipality was part of the traditional district of Ofoten. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Ballangen. Other villages in the municipality included Bjørkåsen, Kjeldebotn, Kobbvika, and Skarstad. The municipality bordered Narvik Municipality to the east and Tysfjord Municipality to the south, and had a short border with Sweden to the southeast. Ballangen was situated on the southern shore of Ofotfjorden. Ballangen also included the long and narrow Efjorden, just south of the much larger Ofotfjorden. Its immediate surroundings were dominated by fjords, mountains, and forests. Ballangen relied on the nearby town of Narvik as its economic base. ''Oofotr II'' (released 2001 in Norway by Grappa Music, Heilo catalog - HCD 7169) is a Norwegian studioalbum by the band Oofotr performing traditional music from Ofoten like World Ambient in a Nordic Traditional style. Review ''Oofotr II'' is the second album from this acclaimed Norwegian jazz trio. The project of presenting electronic versions of traditional music from Ofoten in Nordland, is resilient and deserve attention. Keyboardist Jørn Øien and Arve Furset, drummer Ernst Wiggo Sandbakk and vocalist Kjersti Stubø creates intense soundscapes, heavily melody-based, but with a wide enough range of rhythms, harmonies, beats and timbres that they are far more interesting music to listen to, than a lot of other computer based music. The term ambient world is printed on the cover, and it may so be, but the album consists of a series of fine tunes anyway. Aslak Bolt
Aslak Harniktsson Bolt (c. 1380 – 1450) was a 15th-century Norwegian priest who served as Archbishop of the Nidaros. His parents were Harnikt Henningsson and Sigrid Aslaksdatter Bolt. His mother was a member of a Norwegian noble family. He served as archbishop of Nidaros from about 1427 to 1450. He is most known for his detailed register of properties and incomes of the archdiocese, commonly known as '' Aslak Bolt's cadastre'' (''Aslak Bolts jordebok'') from 1432 to 1433. Kjeldebotn Church
Kjeldebotn Church ( no, Kjeldebotn kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kjeldebotn. It is one of the churches for the Ballangen parish which is part of the Ofoten prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1956 using plans drawn up by the architects Liv and Alf Bugge. The church seats about 200 people.
