Northern Iowa Panthers Football
The Northern Iowa Panthers football represents the University of Northern Iowa in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level as member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC). The program began in 1895 and has fielded a team every year since with the exceptions of 1906–1907 and 1943–1944. The Panthers play their home games at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Mark Farley
Mark Farley (born April 5, 1963) is an American football coach. He is the head coach at the University of Northern Iowa, a position he has held since 2001. Farley started at inside linebacker at Northern Iowa from 1983 to 1985. He led the team in Tackle (football move), tackles in 1984 and 1985, was named Missouri Valley Football Conference, Gateway Football Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 1985, first team all-conference three times, earned honorable mention All-America honors twice and twice named Academic All-American. He then became an assistant at Northern Iowa Panthers football, Northern Iowa. In 1989, he was named linebackers coach by new head coach Terry Allen (American football coach), Terry Allen. In 1997, he followed Allen to the University of Kansas, but left in 2001 when the head coaching position at his alma mater opened up. Kenny Shedd
Kendrick Dwayne Shedd (born February 14, 1971) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) who played for the New York Jets, the Chicago Bears, the Oakland Raiders and the Washington Redskins. He was selected in the fifth round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Jets. He also played a season in 1996 on the Barcelona Dragons in the World League of American Football. He played college football at the University of Northern Iowa. Brian Mitchell (kicker)
Brian Mitchell (born October 15, 1969) is a former college football and professional arena football player. Career Mitchell played college football for the Marshall Thundering Herd in 1987 and the Northern Iowa Panthers (UNI) from 1989 to 1991. He holds many UNI football records and NCAA records as well, including the most accurate single-season kicker in NCAA college football history (26 for 27 in field goals). His longest field goal was 57 yards in 1990. He was a member of the Marshall squad that competed in the 1987 NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship Game. Randolph B. Schultz (November 17, 1943 – October 4, 1996) was an American football player in the National Football League (NFL). Drafted in the fifth round of the 1966 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns, Randy Schultz played the 1966 season with the Browns, followed by two seasons with the NFL's New Orleans Saints. He was also drafted in the 20th round of the 1966 AFL draft (177th overall) by the New York Jets. The Appalachian State Mountaineers football team is the intercollegiate American football team representing Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. The Mountaineers have competed in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the Sun Belt Conference since 2014. NCAA Division I Football Championship
The NCAA Division I Football Championship is an annual post-season college football game, played since 2006, used to determine a national champion of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). From 1978 to 2005, the game was known as the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship. The game serves as the final match of an annual postseason bracket tournament between top teams in FCS. Since 2013, 24 teams normally participate in the tournament, with some teams receiving automatic bids upon winning their conference championship, and other teams determined by a selection committee. The reigning national champions are the North Dakota State Bison, who won the championship game for the 2021 season (their 9th overall). Lamar Cardinals Football
The Lamar Cardinals football program represents Lamar University in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) level. The Cardinals are members of the Southland Conference and play their home games in the 16,000 seat Provost Umphrey Stadium. The Mineral Water Bowl is an annual American NCAA Division II college football bowl game between teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and an at large opponent hosted in Excelsior Springs, Missouri at Tiger Stadium. History From 1948 to 1951, the Mineral Water Bowl was a high school bowl game to showcase the Excelsior Springs High School team against another Missouri high school squad in the school's Thanksgiving contest. The 2011 Northern Iowa Panthers football team represented the University of Northern Iowa in the 2011 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Panthers were coached by Mark Farley and played their home games at the UNI-Dome. They are members of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. They finished the season 10–3, 7–1 in MVFC play to share the conference championship with North Dakota State. They received an at-large bid into the FCS playoffs where they defeated Wofford in the second round before falling to Montana in the quarterfinals. L. J.
