Neston
Neston is a town and civil parish on the Wirral Peninsula, in Cheshire, England. It is part of the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester. The village of Parkgate is located to the north west and the villages of Little Neston and Ness are to the south of Neston. At the 2001 census the population of Neston ward was recorded as 3,521, increasing to 4,329 at the 2011 census. The civil parish also includes Little Neston, Parkgate, Willaston and part of Burton and Ness, and had a population of 15,162 in 2001, increasing to 15,221 in 2011. History The name is of Viking origin, deriving from the Old Norse ''Nes-tún'', meaning 'farmstead or settlement at/near a promontory or headland'. Ellesmere Port And Neston
Ellesmere Port and Neston was, from 1974 to 2009, a local government district with borough status in Cheshire, England. It covered the southern part of the Wirral Peninsula, namely that part which is not included in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral. The district had a population of about 81,800 (2006 estimate). The main towns were Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the village of Parkgate. It also included a number of villages such as Great Sutton and Willaston. Ellesmere Port and Neston is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Justin Madders of the Labour Party. History The constituency was formed in 1983, largely from the southern parts of the former Bebington and Ellesmere Port and Wirral constituencies. Both were former Conservative seats. Neston Urban District
Neston Urban District was an urban district in Cheshire, England and previously known as Neston and Parkgate Urban District (1894-1933). It was the local authority for Neston and Parkgate, in the south-west of the Wirral Peninsula. Several civil parishes of the disbanded Wirral Rural District were added in 1933. These were: Ness and parts of Burton, Eastham, Puddington, Raby, Thornton Hough and Willaston. Neston Town Hall was built in 1889 for Neston and Parkgate Local Board. On the formation of the urban district it was used as the council's headquarters until 1974. Since its abolition, the town hall has remained in community use and is available for hire. Little Neston
Little Neston is a village south of Neston and situated on the Wirral Peninsula, Cheshire, England. Little Neston is administratively part of Cheshire West and Chester and had a population of 3,390 at the 2001 Census. The settlement was mentioned in the Domesday Book as ''Little Nestone''. Together with Neston, it is a former mining village, with shafts dug out underneath the River Dee. The marshes of the River Dee are popular with bird watchers and horticulturalists because of the wide range of flora and fauna to be found in the area. Wirral (; ), known locally as The Wirral, is a peninsula in North West England. Parkgate, Cheshire
Parkgate is a village on the Wirral Peninsula in Cheshire, England, on the banks of the River Dee, Wales, River Dee, adjoining of salt marsh. Burton is a village on the Wirral Peninsula, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. Willaston is a large village situated on the Wirral Peninsula, Cheshire, England.
