Mark Murphy (born August 6, 1976) is an American former professional ice hockey forward who played over 400 games in the American Hockey League before spending the final six years of his career in Europe. He last played for German club, the DEG Metro Stars of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), in the 2010–11 season. Mark Hodge Murphy (born July 13, 1955) is an American football executive and former American football player currently serving as the president and chief executive officer of the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). Prior to that, he was the athletic director at Northwestern University and Colgate University. He also played in the NFL as a Safety (American football position), safety for the NFL's Washington Redskins for eight seasons from 1977 to 1984. Early years and education Murphy was born in Fulton, Oswego County, New York, Fulton, New York. He attended Colgate University, where he was also a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and played college football. Before his NFL career ended and while playing for the Redskins he obtained an MBA from American University's Kogod School of Business in 1983. Mark Steven Murphy (born April 22, 1958 in Canton, Ohio) is a former American football safety in the National Football League. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 1980. He played college football at West Liberty State College. Murphy was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1998. Professional career Murphy was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 1980. He broke his wrist in that 1980 training camp, but not before impressing the coaches enough in scrimmages that he was put on the injured reserve list. While recovering from his injury, he studied and learned the safety position thoroughly. When Johnnie Gray was injured in 1981, he started seven games at strong safety and nabbed the first three of his 20 lifetime interceptions. Marc Murphy (born 19 July 1987) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited with the first overall selection in the 2005 AFL draft and served as the captain of Carlton from the 2013 season to 2018. He is the son of John Murphy. Early life and junior career Murphy attended Whitefriars College in Donvale. He played for Beverley Hills Junior Football Club and Doncaster Football Club, before playing TAC Cup football with the Oakleigh Chargers.
