Maoritomella
''Maoritomella'' is a genus of sea snails, marine (ocean), marine gastropod mollusks in the family (biology), family Borsoniidae.Rosenberg, G.; Bouchet, P. (2012). Maoritomella. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=432499 on 2012-06-28 Description The small shell seldom exceeds 10 mm and has usually a fusiform-biconical shape. The axial riblets in the bluntly domed protoconch are absent or restricted to the terminal half-whorl. The Sculpture (mollusc), sculpture consists of strong spiral lirae or cords with fine collabral threads crossing spiral lirae. It often contains a peripheral keel but never a conspicuous shoulder angle. The siphonal canal is not or feebly indented. There is an anal sinus on the shoulder slope. An Operculum (gastropod), operculum is present. The marginal teeth of the radula are rather short, straight and awl-likeR.N. Kilburn, ''Turridae (Mollusca: Gastropoda) of southern Africa and ...

Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=598994 on 2016-03-13 Description The height of the shell attains 5.5 mm, its width 2.5 mm. The white and chalky shell has a fusiform shape. Fresh specimens are pale pink. The shell shows no axial sculpture. The whorls contain a smooth upper and a gemmate lower keel. The protoconch is smooth. The height of the spire equals about that of the aperture with siphonal canal. Each whorl is tabulated below the suture, and the tabulation ends anteriorly in a prominent spiral thread. Then follows a second tabulation, terminating in a row of oval gemmules, about 15 mm on the body whorl The body whorl is part of the morphology of the shell in those gastropod mollusks that po ...
