Madrid Royal Conservatory
The Madrid Royal Conservatory ( es, Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid) is a music college in Madrid, Spain. History The Royal Conservatory of Music was founded on July 15, 1830, by royal decree, and was originally located in Mostenses Square, Madrid. In 1852 it was moved to the Royal Opera, where it remained until the building was condemned by royal order and classes ordered to halt in 1925. For the next sixty-five years, the school had no fixed home, operating in a variety of locations. Since 1990, the Conservatory has officially lived in a restored 18th-century building (previously ''San Carlos'' Royal Hospital) in front of Queen Sofia Museum. María José Montiel
María José Montiel (born 24 June 1968) is a Spanish mezzo-soprano opera singer born in Madrid. In 2011 she was awarded the '' Premio Teatro Campoamor'' for her interpretation of '' Carmen'' by the Fundación Premio Líricos Teatro Campoamor. Life and career Montiel was born in Madrid. She graduated in vocal performance at the Madrid Conservatory where she studied under Pedro Lavirgen and Ana María Iriarte, before moving to Vienna for further training with Sena Jurinac and Olivera Miljakovic. Jaime Mendoza-Nava
Jaime Mendoza-Nava (December 1, 1925 – May 31, 2005) was a Bolivian-American composer and conductor. Early life and work Mendoza-Nava was born in La Paz, Bolivia. He studied at The Juilliard School and Madrid Royal Conservatory, the Sorbonne, and with Nadia Boulanger. He won the Madrid Conservatory's First Prize in 1950, completing the five-year program in a year's time. Eventually, he was on the staff of Walt Disney Studios and his works were recorded by MGM Records. Much of his music is inspired by the pentatonic music of the Andes. In Hollywood, he also had several credits as a sound editor. He died in Los Angeles, California, on May 31, 2005. Gareth Koch (born 6 April 1962) is an Australian classical guitarist and recording artist of German/ Anglo-Irish/ Lithuanian heritage. Biography Gareth Koch was born in Milan to novelist Christopher Koch and Irene Vilnonis, a Conservatorium-trained pianist. Cristóbal Halffter
Cristóbal Halffter Jiménez-Encina (24 March 1930 – 23 May 2021) was a Spanish classical composer. He was the nephew of two other composers, Rodolfo and Ernesto Halffter and is regarded as the most important Spanish composer of the generation of composers designated the Generación del 51. Early years Halffter was born in Madrid, but in 1936 the family moved to Velbert, Germany, to escape the Spanish Civil War. They returned to Madrid in 1939, and Halftter studied with Conrado del Campo at the Madrid Royal Conservatory, graduating in 1951. Luis Antonio García Navarro
Luis Antonio García Navarro (30 April 1941 in Chiva, Valencian Community, Spain – 10 October 2001 in Madrid, Spain), was a Spanish conductor. Biography García Navarro was born in Chiva (Spain), and studied in Valencia and the Madrid Royal Conservatory before moving to Vienna to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts with Hans Swarowsky, Karl Oesterreicher, and Reinhold Schmid. Antón García Abril
Antón García Abril OAXS (19 May 1933 – 17 March 2021) was a Spanish composer and musician. He composed many classical orchestral works, chamber and vocal pieces, as well as over 150 scores for film and television. Biography Between 1974 and 2003, he was the head of the department of Compositions and Musical Forms (Composición y Formas Musicales) of the Madrid Royal Conservatory, and in 1982 he was elected a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. In 1994, he was awarded Spain's Premio Nacional de Música for composition, and in 2008, he was also named a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia. Maria Galvany
Maria Galvany or María Galvany (1878? - 2 August 1927 J. B. Steane: ''Galvany, Maria'', in , Vol. 2, p.341.) was a Spanish coloratura soprano known for her showy, virtuoso singing technique. Manuel De Falla
Manuel de Falla y Matheu (, 23 November 187614 November 1946) was an Andalusian Spanish composer and pianist. Along with Isaac Albéniz, Francisco Tárrega, and Enrique Granados, he was one of Spain's most important musicians of the first half of the 20th century.
