Lusail ( ar, لوسيل, , ) is the second-largest city in Qatar, located on the coast, in the southern part of the municipality of Al Daayen. Lusail is located about north of the city centre of Doha, just north of the West Bay Lagoon, on over and will eventually have the infrastructure to accommodate 450,000 people. Of these 450,000 people, it is estimated that 250,000 or fewer will be residents, 190,000 will be office workers and 60,000 will be retail workers. It is planned to have marinas, residential areas, island resorts, commercial districts, luxury shopping and leisure facilities, and a golf course community, man made islands and several entertainment districts. Construction is still ongoing. Development is being carried out by the state-controlled developer Qatari Diar along with Parsons Corporation and Dorsch-Gruppe. Al Daayen
Al Daayen ( Wehr: ]; also spelled as [; Wehr: ]) is a Municipalities of Qatar, municipality in the state of Qatar. Most of the urban landscape can be found in the southern zone of the municipality, particularly in the city of Lusail, while the northern and central sections are primarily rural. It is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Qatar due to its close proximity to the capital Doha. Umm Qarn hosts the municipal office and serves as the municipality's administrative seat. Etymology Al Daayen Municipality is named after the village of the same name, which derives its name from the Arabic word "dhaayen", which roughly translates to "travel". Lusail Stadium
Lusail Stadium ( ar, استاد لوسيل, ), also unofficially known as Lusail Iconic Stadium, is a football stadium in Lusail, Qatar. Owned by the Qatar Football Association, it is the largest stadium in Qatar by capacity and one of eight stadiums built for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, during which it hosted the final game between Argentina and France on 18 December 2022. It is currently the fourth largest stadium in Asia but eventually will reduce its current capacity of 88,966 to 40,000 in the near future. The stadium is located about north of Doha. Jabal Thuaileb
Jabal Thuaileb ( ar, جبل ثعيلب, Jabal Thu‘aylib, Fox Hills) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al Daayen. It is also a census-designated district of Ad-Dawhah. It is closely situated to Lusail. After a cabinet resolution was passed in 2002, Jabal Thuaileb became the one of three districts in Qatar where foreigners could own real estate. Etymology The "jabal" portion of the district's name means "hill" or "mountain" or in Arabic. "Thuaileb" is derived from the Arabic word "thaalab", which translates to " fox" in English. It was so named due to the presence of a prominent hill and the habitation of foxes in the area. Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani
Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani ( ar, جاسم بن محمد آل ثاني; c. 1825 – 17 July 1913), also known as "The Founder", was the founder of the State of Qatar. He had a total of 56 children, 19 sons and 37 daughters. Early life and governance Although the exact date of his birth is unknown, Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani was born around 1825. The Qatar Grand Prix is a Formula One motor racing event which is held in Qatar. It was held for the first time on 21 November as part of the championship at the Losail International Circuit, and after not taking place during the season due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar, it will rejoin the calendar in under a 10-year contract. The race was established as the fourth full night race on the Formula One calendar, following the Singapore, Bahrain and Sakhir Grands Prix. Zones Of Qatar
In the administrative divisions of Qatar, zones are the second-highest level of government after municipalities. As of the 2015 census, there were 98 zones. However, several of these zones are not currently in use. Over the years, numerous changes in zones have taken place. Al Kharayej
Al Kharayej ( ar, الخرايج, Al Kharā’ij) is a district in Qatar, geographically located in the municipality of Al Daayen but also included in the census as a district of Ad-Dawhah. After a cabinet resolution was passed in 2002, Al Kharayej became the one of three settlements in Qatar where foreigners could own real estate. It is a part of Lusail city. Etymology Traditionally an agricultural settlement, Al Kharayej is named after a local saline spring, with "kharayej" being an Arabic term for saline spring. Al Maadeed ( ar, المعاضيد) also spelled Al Maadid or Al Maadhid, is one of the primary tribes in Qatar.
