The Electoral district of Perth is a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia. Perth is named for the capital city of Western Australia whose central business district falls within its borders. It is one of the oldest electorates in Western Australia, with its first member having been elected in the inaugural 1890 elections of the Legislative Assembly. Perth has traditionally been a safe Labor seat Party, but was briefly held by Liberal Eleni Evangel between 2013 and 2017. Perth is currently held by Labor MLA John Carey. Aranmore Catholic College
The Aranmore Catholic College is a co-educational school for ages 7-12, located in Leederville in Perth, Western Australia. History The College was founded in 1903 by the Sisters of Mercy and was originally known as Arranmore, a name taken from Arranmore Island off Ireland’s Donegal coast, with its official title being Our Lady of Perpetual Succour School. The first Mass was said on the 27 May 1903, and in April of the next year a new church-school building was ready for use and the sisters moved to Leederville. They lived in a cottage on the corner of Marian and Shakespeare Street. The school was facing Marian Street and was situated where the main playing/recreation area is located now. The Convent and the school were very much intertwined. In the early days and during the war, 12 girls boarded at Arranmore. The Electoral district of Leederville was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia. The district was named for the inner northern Perth suburb of Leederville, which fell within its borders. Starting off as a vast seat covering most of Perth's northwestern hinterland, it shrank in size at various redistributions until, by the time of its abolishment, it was an inner suburban seat able to be absorbed into Wembley and Mount Hawthorn. Leederville was largely created out of the abolished Balcatta by the ''Redistribution of Seats Act 1911'', and its first member, elected at the 1911 state election, was the former member for Balcatta, Labor's Frederick Gill. He was defeated in the 1914 election by 81 votes by another former Balcatta member, the Liberal candidate John Veryard. The seat was won back for Labor by Harry Millington on his second attempt. Shane Paltridge
Sir Shane Dunne Paltridge KBE (11 January 1910 – 21 January 1966) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Liberal Party and served in the Menzies Government as Minister for Shipping and Transport (1955–1960), Civil Aviation (1956–1964), and Defence (1964–1966). He was a Senator for Western Australia from 1951 until his death in 1966. Prior to entering politics he worked as a bank clerk, hotel manager and soldier. Early life Paltridge was born on 11 January 1910 in Leederville, Western Australia. He was the son of Florence Marjory (née Thomas) and Archer Dunn Paltridge. His father worked as a banker and the family lived for periods in Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales. William Henry Leeder
William Henry Leeder was an early settler in the Swan River Colony, Western Australia. He was granted a parcel of land that now includes the suburb of Leederville, which was named after him. Leeder arrived in the Swan River Colony in 1830. He was the proprietor of Leeder's Hotel on the corner of St Georges Terrace and William Street (the site of what is now the Palace Hotel) from 1831 until his death in March 1845.
