LA Giltinis
The LA Giltinis are a former Major League Rugby team based in Los Angeles, California, United States. The team was announced in 2020 and entered the league in the 2021 season as an expansion franchise. The Giltinis, named for a yet-to-be-released cocktail, were owned by Adam Gilchrist and Loyals Rugby. It was based in El Segundo, California, and played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Darren Coleman was announced as the head coach. The club won the MLR Shield in their inaugural season, but were disqualified from the playoffs in 2022. The Glintis and the Austin Gilgronis—another MLR team owned by Gilchrist—were removed from the league in October 2022. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (also known as the L.A. Coliseum) is a multi-purpose stadium in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Joseph Soosemea Taufetee (born October 4, 1992) is an American rugby union player who plays as a hooker and prop for the Houston SaberCats in Major League Rugby (MLR). A converted American football player, Taufetee has also previously represented the United States by serving as captain of the USA Selects. He also plays for the United States national team. Christian Poidevin (born 9 September 1998) is an Australian rugby union player, currently playing for the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby (MLR) in the U.S. His preferred position is flanker. Langilangi Haupeakui (born 3 July 1989) is a United States international rugby union player who currently plays for Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby (MLR). His regular playing position is either No. 8 or Flanker. He previously played for the LA Giltinis in the MLR. Hanco Jacobus Germishuys (born August 24, 1996) is a South African born American rugby union player who plays as a flanker for the Houston SaberCats in Major League Rugby (MLR) and for the United States national rugby union team internationally.
