Juguang Township / Jyuguang Township (; Foochow Romanized: Gṳ̄-guŏng-hiŏng), also spelled Chukuang, is a rural township of Lienchiang County (the Matsu Islands), Republic of China (Taiwan). Juguang Township includes two major islands, Dongju Island ( "East Ju"; Dĕ̤ng-gṳ̄) and Xiju Island ( "West Ju"; Să̤-gṳ̄), as well as some islets. Name On October 15, 1971, the Executive Yuan approved changing the name of the township from Baiquan Township (Paichuan, White Dogs; ) to Juguang Township (Chukuang; ). They also approved changing the name of Xiquan Island (Hsichuan; ) to Xiju Island (Hsiju; ) and Dongquan Island (Tungchuan; ) to Dongju Island (Tungchu; ). The islands were renamed based on a quote of a speech by Chiang Kai-shek, "forget not that you're in Ju" (; Wú wàng zài Jǔ; Ù uông câi Gṳ̄). Juguang Tower
The Juguang Tower () is a tower in Jincheng Township, Kinmen County, Fukien Province, Republic of China (Taiwan). History The construction of the tower started in 1952 and was completed in the fall of 1953. It was built to commemorate the fallen armed forces during the Battle of Guningtou 4 years earlier. Architecture The tower ground covers an area of 6,612 m2. The tower was built with a traditional Chinese style with two cannons at the front of the tower, symbolizing the turbulent history of Kinmen. The architect who designed the tower is Sheng Xuie-hai (). It is a three-story building with a cultural gallery inside it displaying documents and materials about the history and current status of Kinmen. Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), branded as Metro Taipei, is a rapid transit system serving the areas of Taipei and New Taipei City, New Taipei in Taiwan, operated by the State-owned enterprise, government-owned Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, which also operates the Maokong Gondola.
