Iranian Pop Music
Iranian pop music or Persian pop music ( fa, موسیقی پاپ ایرانی) refers to pop music originated in Iran, with songs mainly in Persian and other regional Persian dialects of the country and region. History Early Iranian popular music Following the invention of radio in 1930, and after World War II, a form of popular music emerged and began to develop in Iran. 1950s–70s Iran's western-influenced pop music emerged by the 1950s. Prior to the 1950s, Iran's music industry was dominated by traditional singers. Viguen, known as the "Sultan" of Iranian pop and jazz music, was a pioneer of this revolution. He was one of Iran's first musicians to perform with a guitar. Pop Music
Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. The terms ''popular music'' and ''pop music'' are often used interchangeably, although the former describes all music that is popular and includes many disparate styles. During the 1950s and 1960s, pop music encompassed rock and roll and the youth-oriented styles it influenced. ''Rock'' and ''pop'' music remained roughly synonymous until the late 1960s, after which ''pop'' became associated with music that was more commercial, ephemeral, and accessible. Shadmehr Aghili
Shadmehr aghili ( fa, شادمهر عقیلی; born 27 January 1973) is an Iranian pop singer, musician, composer, music arranger, producer and song-writer, and formerly an actor. He revitalized music culture post-revolution in Iran, Aghili was born in Tehran, Iran and later emigrated to Canada first, but currently resides in Los Angeles. Biography Career Aghili started early in music and studied piano, guitar and violin, graduated from the Tehran Conservatory of Music. He has worked at the IRIB (the official broadcasting of Iran) for a while. He released his cassette album ''Bahar e Man'' (''My Spring'') in 1997, an instrumental music album where he played piano, guitar and violin. Iranian Revolution
The Iranian Revolution ( fa, انقلاب ایران, Enqelâb-e Irân, ), also known as the Islamic Revolution ( fa, انقلاب اسلامی, Enqelâb-e Eslâmī), was a series of events that culminated in the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and the replacement of his government with an Islamic republic under the rule of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a leader of one of the factions in the revolt. The revolution was supported by various Organizations of the Iranian Revolution, leftist and Islamist organizations. After the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, Pahlavi had aligned with the United States and the Western Bloc to rule more firmly as an authoritarian monarch. Loghman Adhami
Loghman Adhami (born 1949) is an Iranian violinist and composer. Biography Adhami was born in 1949 in Tehran, Iran. From the age of 7, he began playing the violin and composing at age 15. He studied under prominent Iranian and international musicians, such as Parviz Yahaghi, Ali Tajvidi, Manuel Compensky, George Martiroussian and Ronald Konieszica. Adhami holds a B.A. in music from the School of Arts in Tehran and an M.Sc. from the University of Cincinnati – College-Conservatory of Music. Adhami's musical training includes the Iranian violin technique, the Persian modal (''dastgah'') system, western classical composition and theory, and classical violin technique. Anoushiravan Rohani ( fa, انوشیروان روحانی; born July 24, 1939), also spelled Anooshiravan Rowhani, is an Iranian pianist and composer. He is known for composing and conducting contemporary classical music, as well as pop music with light classical leaning. He has also composed a number of scores to Iranian films. Early life Born in Rasht, in the Gilan Province of Iran in 1939, Rohani received music lessons from his father, himself a poet and violinist.
