Idaho Vandals Football Seasons
This is a list of seasons completed by the Idaho Vandals football team. The Vandals compete in the Big Sky Conference in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Representing the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, the Vandals play home games on campus at the 16,000-seat Kibbie Dome; it opened as an outdoor venue in 1971 and was enclosed in 1975. Idaho began playing football in 1894 as an independent, and was a member of the Pacific Coast Conference from 1922 through 1958; the PCC disbanded the following spring. After playing for six years as a University Division independent, the Vandals joined the Big Sky for football in 1965, where they remained for over thirty years. The Big Sky moved up to the new Division I-AA in 1978; Idaho moved down and often made the I-AA postseason playoffs for over a decade. Big West Conference
The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season. Among the conference's 11 member institutions, 10 are located in California (with 9 located in Southern California alone) and one is located in Hawaii. All of the schools are public universities, with the California schools evenly split between the California State University and the University of California systems. Coaches' Poll
The Coaches Poll is a weekly ranking of the top 25 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) college football, Division I college basketball, and Division I college baseball teams. The football version of the poll has been known officially as the Amway Coaches Poll since 2014. The football rankings are compiled by the Amway Board of Coaches which is made up of 62 head coaches at Division I FBS institutions. All coaches are members of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). The basketball rankings are compiled by the USA Today Sports Board of Coaches which is made up of 32 head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). AP Poll
The Associated Press poll (AP poll) provides weekly rankings of the top 25 NCAA teams in one of three Division I college sports: football, men's basketball and women's basketball. The rankings are compiled by polling 62 sportswriters and broadcasters from across the nation. Each voter provides their own ranking of the top 25 teams, and the individual rankings are then combined to produce the national ranking by giving a team 25 points for a first place vote, 24 for a second place vote, and so on down to 1 point for a twenty-fifth place vote. Ballots of the voting members in the AP poll are made public. The 2021 Idaho Vandals football team represented the University of Idaho as in the Big Sky Conference during the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Jason Eck
Jason Eck (born August 11, 1977) is an American football coach who is currently the head coach at the Idaho Vandals football, University of Idaho. Coaching career Early coaching career Eck began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater Wisconsin Badgers football, Wisconsin and later Colorado Buffaloes football, Colorado. He was the offensive line coach at Idaho Vandals football, Idaho under Nick Holt and the Vandals' tight ends coach under Dennis Erickson. The 2013 Idaho Vandals football team represented the University of Idaho in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Vandals were led by first year head coach Paul Petrino and played their home games at the Kibbie Dome. This was Idaho's first and only season as an independent. The 2017 Idaho Vandals football team represented the University of Idaho in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Vandals played their home games at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho, and competed in the Sun Belt Conference. They were led by fifth-year head coach Paul Petrino. They finished the season 4–8, 3–5 in Sun Belt play to finish in a tie for eighth place.
