Iceland
Iceland ( is, Ísland; ) is a Nordic island country in the North Atlantic Ocean and in the Arctic Ocean. Iceland is the most sparsely populated country in Europe. Iceland's capital and largest city is Reykjavík, which (along with its surrounding areas) is home to over 65% of the population. Alex Somers
Alex Somers (born March 7, 1984) is an American visual artist and musician from Baltimore, Maryland, who attended Berklee College of Music and Listaháskóli Íslands. Somers lives and works in Los Angeles. Previously he ran a recording studio in downtown Reykjavík where he produced, engineered, and mixed since 2010. He and his former partner Jónsi, with whom he split in 2019, produce music and visual art under the name Jónsi & Alex. The pair have released an album and a picture book, both titled ''Riceboy Sleeps''. Jónsi and Somers have also collaborated on Jónsi's solo project. Somers co-produced and played instruments on Jónsi's album ''Go''. He then joined Jónsi in his five-piece live band, playing guitar and keyboards for the world tour in support of '' Go''. Bobby Fischer
Robert James Fischer (March 9, 1943January 17, 2008) was an American chess grandmaster and the eleventh World Chess Champion. A chess prodigy, he won his first of a record eight US Championships at the age of 14. In 1964, he won with an 11–0 score, the only perfect score in the history of the tournament. Qualifying for the 1972 World Championship, Fischer swept matches with Mark Taimanov and Bent Larsen by 6–0 scores. After another qualifying match against Tigran Petrosian, Fischer won the title match against Boris Spassky of the USSR, in Reykjavík, Iceland. Publicized as a Cold War confrontation between the US and USSR, the match attracted more worldwide interest than any chess championship before or since. Þór Saari (born 9 June 1960) is a former member of parliament of Althing, the Icelandic parliament from 2009–13, representing The Movement (Iceland), The Movement. Björgólfur Hideaki Takefusa (born 11 May 1980) is an Icelandic former professional footballer who played as a forward. He formerly represented the Iceland national team, making three appearances in 2003 and 2009. Early life Björgólfur's mother is daughter of Margrét Þóra Hallgrímsson and American Nazi Party founder George Lincoln Rockwell, and adoptive daughter of Björgólfur Guðmundsson. Árni Johnsen (born 1 March 1944) is an Icelandic former politician from Vestmannaeyjar, who represented the Independence Party in the Althing as a member of the South Constituency. In 2002 he was convicted of paying for personal property using government accounts and sentenced to two years in prison. After his release, he was re-elected. He annually leads singalongs at the festival Þjóðhátíð.
