IEntertainment Network (IENT, stylized as iEntertainment Network and formerly known as Interactive Magic, iMagic, and iMagiconline) is an American video game company founded by Bill Stealey, the co-founder and former CEO of MicroProse Software, in 1995. It is chiefly a developer and publisher of simulation computer games. The company was noted for hiring many industry outsiders, i.e. skilled software engineers with no prior experience in making games. Interactive Magic went public in 1998 and was sold to a venture capitalist in 1999, when Bill Stealey left the company; Stealey returned in the early 2000s. The News & Observer
''The News & Observer'' is an American regional daily newspaper that serves the greater Triangle area based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The paper is the largest in circulation in the state (second is the '' Charlotte Observer''). The paper has been awarded three Pulitzer Prizes, the most recent of which was in 1996 for a series on the health and environmental impact of North Carolina's booming hog industry. The paper was one of the first in the world to launch an online version of the publication, Nando.net in 1994. Ownership On May 17, 1995 the News & Observer Publishing Company was sold to McClatchy Newspapers of Sacramento, California, for $373 million, ending 101 years of Daniels family ownership. Hind (video Game)
''Hind'' is a combat flight simulation game released by Digital Integration in 1996 for MS-DOS compatible operating systems and Microsoft Windows. It is the successor to ''Apache''. The game features the Soviet military Mi-24V Hind-E helicopter. It came with a detailed 99 page printed manual explaining the basics of helicopter flight and control, along with the specific traits of the Mi-24 helicopter and its weaponry. Gameplay The game's graphics use Gouraud shading. Despite the primitive graphics, it has a realistic flight model. Many complex physics effects are modelled, including ground effect/vortex ring and retreating blade stall which culminate in the ability of a skilled pilot to succeed at autorotation in the case of all engine failure. Star Rangers is a space flight simulator and strategy computer game for DOS developed by Interactive Magic and published in October 1995. Plot Players take on the role of a Star Ranger, the equivalent of law enforcement in the 23rd century, a pilot of a high-tech spaceship which he uses to repel Tuareg bandits along shared borders. Gameplay The game starts in a practice mode in which the player continually faces waves of enemies until death. This is an 'arcade' option of the game, which doesn't explore the storyline. The game offers a campaign mode which comprises a group of missions in which these encounters escalate. These missions evolve from incursion defense, to escort duty, to outright assaults.
