Freddie Thompson (Irish Criminal)
Freddie Thompson is an Irish criminal connected to the Crumlin-Drimnagh feud who was also convicted of the murder of David Douglas. Early life He was born in 1980 and grew up in the Maryland area of south-inner city Dublin. He first came to the attention of the Garda Síochána in his teens for car theft and related offences. He was a cousin of Liam Byrne whose brother David who was shot in February 2016. Thompson assumed control of the Dublin branch of the Kinahan gang after Christy Kinahan was jailed in 1997 in relation to stolen cheques. During 2007-2008 he was involved with a feud with the INLA when caused him to flee Dublin several times. Because of this, Liam Byrne gradually assumed control of the Dublin branch of the gang. Murder Of David Douglas
David "Daithí" Douglas, an Irish zookeeper turned criminal, was shot dead on 1 July 2016. He had convictions dating from the 1980s as well as more recent ones and had survived a shooting the previous November. His murder is part of the Hutch–Kinahan feud. In August 2018 'Fat' Freddy Thompson was found guilty of the murder by the Special Criminal Court. The shooting of Eddie Hutch Snr occurred on 8 February 2016. Eddie was the brother of Gerry Hutch, the leader of the Hutch gang, which was in a feud with the Kinahan gang, led by Christy Kinahan. The feud of the two criminal gangs, called the 2015–16 Irish gangland feud, in the Republic of Ireland resulted in the deaths of ten people. Before shooting Eddie was a brother of Gerry Hutch and was considered a non-violent criminal, having convictions for small-time fraud and shoplifting. Eddie took legal action when courts decided that he did not qualify for compensation from Dublin Corporation when his local authority home burned down while he was in prison for breaching a barring order. Derek "Del Boy" Hutch is an Irish criminal and brother of Gary Hutch. Stolen motorcycle conviction He was jailed for two years in 2009 after trying to sell a stolen motorbike to a Garda. Manslaughter conviction Derek Hutch and an accomplice were convicted of the manslaughter of Barry McGuire on St. Stephen's Day 2007 in Ashbourne, County Meath. Hutch and Alan Donohue pleaded guilty of manslaughter of Barry McGuire and to intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Damien Carty on the same occasion. Barry McGuire had died from a single knife wound after going to the aid of his friends who had got involved in an altercation with the defendants. David Byrne (Irish criminal), David Byrne was shot dead on February 5, 2016 at the Regency Hotel in Whitehall, Dublin. It is believed by the Garda Síochána that Daniel Kinahan, the son of Christy Kinahan, was the intended target, but had left early. Background Byrne had been investigated by every Garda Síochána, Garda specialist unit since he was a teenager.
