HLA-B Alleles
HLA-B (major histocompatibility complex, class I, B) is a human gene that provides instructions for making a protein that plays a critical role in the immune system. HLA-B is part of a family of genes called the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex. The HLA complex helps the immune system distinguish the body's own proteins from proteins made by foreign invaders such as viruses and bacteria. HLA is the human version of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), a gene family that occurs in many species. Genes in this complex are separated into three basic groups: MHC class I, class I, MHC class II, class II, and MHC class III, class III. In humans, the HLA-B gene and two related genes, HLA-A and HLA-C, are the major genes in MHC class I. MHC class I genes provide instructions for making proteins that are present on the surface of almost all cells. On the cell surface, these proteins are bound to protein fragments (peptides) that have been exported from within the cell. MHC class ...

Human
Humans (''Homo sapiens'') are the most abundant and widespread species of primate, characterized by bipedalism and exceptional cognitive skills due to a large and complex brain. This has enabled the development of advanced tools, culture, and language. Humans are highly social and tend to live in complex social structures composed of many cooperating and competing groups, from families and kinship networks to political states. Social interactions between humans have established a wide variety of values, social norms, and rituals, which bolster human society. Its intelligence and its desire to understand and influence the environment and to explain and manipulate phenomena have motivated humanity's development of science, philosophy, mythology, religion, and other fields of study. Although some scientists equate the term ''humans'' with all members of the genus ''Homo'', in common usage, it generally refers to ''Homo sapiens'', the only extant member. Anatomically moder ...

HLA-B7
HLA-B7 (B7) is an HLA- B serotype. The serotype identifies the more common HLA-B*07 gene products. (For terminology help see: HLA-serotype tutorial) B7, previously HL-A7, was one of the first 'HL-A' antigens recognized, largely because of the frequency of B*0702 in Northern and Western Europe and the United States. B7 is found in two major haplotypes in Europe, where it reaches peak frequency in Ireland. One haplotype A3-B7-DR15-DQ1 can be found over a vast region and is in apparent selective disequilibrium. B7 is a risk factor for cervical cancer, sarcoidosis, and early-onset spondylarthropathies. Serology Alleles In disease Cervical cancer HLA-B7 along with HLA-DQ8 increased risk for cervical cancer in at risk Costa Rican women and Asian Indians Sarcoidosis A weak relationship between HLA-B7 and sarcoidosis has been known for 30+ years, yet has not consistently been reproducible in all studies however. A common serologically defined haplotype in Europeans is HLA A3- ...

HLA-B15
HLA-B15 (B15) is an HLA- B serotype. The serotype identifies the B*15 gene-allele protein products of HLA-B. B15 is a broad antigen can be subdivided into several split antigens that are often used in characterization. These are B62, B63, B70, B71, B72, B75, B76, B77. B*15 is the largest allele grouping for any known human autosomal locus, identified as of August 2008 there are more than 150 alleles and ~140 amino acid sequence variants from those gene products. Some of these alleles are discussed below. Other alleles, such as B*46 evolved from B*15. One reason for the diversity of this group is that B15 is among a group of alleles enriched in the original humans that left Africa and dispersed across East Asia and Australia. As people traveled east the frequency of many alleles dropped or disappeared from migrants. However B*15 persisted, expanded and diversified. The wide range and complex environment selected for new alleles and promoted their expansion. B*46 for exa ...

HLA-B14
HLA-B14 (B14) is a HLA- B serotype. The serotype identifies the B*45 gene-allele protein products of HLA-B. B14 is a broad antigen composed to two, B64 and B65, split antigen Split(s) or The Split may refer to: Places * Split, Croatia, the largest coastal city in Croatia * Split Island, Canada, an island in the Hudson Bay * Split Island, Falkland Islands * Split Island, Fiji, better known as Hạfliua Arts, enterta ...s. In the case of B14 the recognition of the broad antigen is more useful than split antigen recognition because of the relatively poor discrimination of the split antigens (see Table below). Serotype HLA-B64 This serotype does not have good recognition of any of the alleles, relatively speaking recognizes B*1401 better. HLA-B65 This serotype recognizes B*1402 and B*1403 but less so than B14 and to a minor degree it recognized B*1401. References {{HLA-B serotypes 1 ...

HLA-B8
HLA-B8 (B8) is an HLA- B serotype. The serotype identifies the HLA-B*08 gene products. (For terminology help see: HLA-serotype tutorial) HLA-B8, previously known as HL-A8 was one of the first identified of the HLA antigens. It coined the "Super B8" haplotype, also called the ancestral European haplotype because of its common occurrence in Europe, particular the isles and Scandinavia. B8 is a component gene-allele of the AH8.1 haplotype in Northern and Western Europeans. Genes between B8 and DR3 DR3 was a Danish national television channel, produced by the public service broadcaster, DR.
