Freital
Freital is a town in the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge in Saxony, Germany. The town is situated on a small river, the Weißeritz, and is southwest of Dresden. Geography Freital is located southwest of Dresden in the Döhlen Basin, through which the Weißeritz flows from south-west to north-east. The Windberg hill, is the town's local mountain and well-known landmark, rising about above the valley floor. The lowest part of the town is the point where the Weißeritz enters the territory of the city of Dresden (about above sea level). The two rivers, the Red Weißeritz and Wild Weißeritz, merge in Hainsberg, a district of Freital. The Windberg (353 m above NN) is a hill in the borough of Freital near Dresden in the German federal state of Saxony. It is the town's ''Hausberg'' or local hill. Döhlen Basin
The Döhlen Basin (german: Döhlener Becken) is a landscape unit in the German federal state of Saxony, southwest of Dresden. The Döhlen Basin has a length of 22 km and a width of 6 km and lies within the district of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. Description In the centre of the basin is the large county town of Freital; although the basin is named after Döhlen, one of the villages in its borough. The highest point in the area is the Lerchenberg near Possendorf at 425 m above sea level (NN); the lowest point is in the river valley of the Weißeritz at 160 m above NN. The Karsdorf fault forms the geological boundary with the Eastern Ore Mountains to the south. The Weißeritz (also: ''Vereinigte Weißeritz'' in German i.e. United Weißeritz, ''Bystrica'' in Sorbian) is a river of Saxony, Germany. It is long and a left tributary of the Elbe. The river is formed by the confluence of the Wild Weißeritz and Red Weißeritz in Freital. The Weißeritz runs through Freital and Dresden. It crosses the deep valley ''Plauenscher Grund'' between Freital and Dresden and enters the Dresden Basin. The railway line from Dresden to Nuremberg runs next to the river in his close valley. The Red Weißeritz (german: Rote Weißeritz) is a river of Saxony, Germany. The Red Weißeritz is the right headstream of the Weißeritz. It is long. The river's source is the Eastern Ore Mountains near Altenberg at a height of about 787 metres. It drops through a height of 606 metres as it heads north-west, running through Schmiedeberg, the district town of Dippoldiswalde and ending in Freital where it forms the Weißeritz together with the longer tributary of the Wild Weißeritz.
