Football in Somalia is run by the Somali Football Federation. The association administers the national football team, as well as the Premier League. Football is the most popular sport in Somalia. History Football was introduced in Somalia by the Italians, as an amateur sport activity of colonial Mogadishu & surroundings in the late 1920s. In the 1930s, Italian authorities began to organize professional sport in Somalia. These sports were initially concentrated only in the capital Mogadishu. In 1931 governor Maurizio Rava created the ''Federazione Sportiva della Somalia'', which organized competences of football for the Italian community and promoted the first sport activities among the young native population. The Somali Football Federation (SFF) ( so, Xiriirka Kubadda cagta Soomaaliyeed, was founded in 1951, and it is one of the national administrative sports governing body, governing bodies of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) responsible for organizing and controlling the sport of association football, football and its competitions (the Somalia League, first, Somali Second Division, second, and Somali Third Division, third divisions, as well as the Somalia Cup, Cup) in the Federal Republic of Somalia, as well as the Somalia national football team. Horseed FC
Horseed FC is a Somali football club based in Mogadishu, Somalia. It was founded in 1971 by Lt. Col Mohamed Ahmed Alim, who started the Somali Armed Forces Sports Directorate recruiting from the ranks of the Army. It is seven times champion of the Somalia League. A team of Somali Armed Forces, Horseed SC was among the most formidable and recognized football clubs in the country. After the civil war broke out, it discontinued operations, but has been revived in 2013 by Gen Dahir Aden Elmi Commander of the Somalia Armed Forces. Gen Elmi revived all the different teams of Horseed Sports Club with emphasis on the Football Team which again began to compete in the Somalia Serie A league. Jeenyo United Football Club is a football club based in Mogadishu, Somalia History The club was established in 1948, and was originally named SC Genio Officina. Most of the players came from the former teams "Società Calcistica Mogadiscio" and "Amaruini", that played amateur football in the Italian Somalia from 1936 until 1941. They won Division One of the Campionato di Calcio in 1952, and were renamed Lavori Pubblici (''Public Works'') for the 1953–54 season, due to its links with the Ministry of Public Works.
