Association Football
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Traditionally, the game has been played over two 45 minute halves, for a total match time of 90 minutes. AEK FC ( el, ΠΑΕ A.E.K. ; Αθλητική Ένωσις Κωνσταντινουπόλεως; ''Athlitikí Énosis Konstantinoupόleos'', meaning ''Athletic Union of Constantinople'') is a Greek professional football club based in Nea Filadelfeia, a suburb of Attica, Greece. Olympiacos–PAOK Rivalry
The football rivalry between Olympiacos and PAOK is considered the fiercest intercity rivalry in Greece and a large number of games between the two football teams have been stigmatized by nasty incidents. Double-headed Eagles Derby
The Double-headed eagles derby is a football derby between AEK Athens and PAOK Thessaloniki. Both teams have the same roots, being refugees from Constantinople (AEK in Athens and PAOK in Thessaloniki), after the Greco-Turkish War, the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the population exchange. Both teams use the same emblem (Double-headed eagle), to reminisce the Byzantine Empire, but in different colors (black and yellow for AEK, black and white for PAOK). The very first match between the two teams took place in Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium during the final phase of the 1930–31 Panhellenic Championship (8 March 1931; score: 1–1). The rivalry used to remain on-pitch for several years. However, since the Greek Cup Final of 2017 there is an ongoing, intense and overall exaggeration of the rivalry, further boosted after the championship conquered by AEK in 2018, when PAOK were deducted 3 points by court decision and AEK were given 3pts, which adjudged the title holder. Gymnasticos Syllogos Iraklis ( el, Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Ηρακλής, en, Gymnastics Club Heracles), commonly referred to as Iraklis, is a Greek multi-sports club based in Thessaloniki. The club was founded in 1908 as "Macedonikos Gymnasticos Syllogos" (''Macedonian Gymnastics Club'') and is one of the oldest and most historic sports-clubs in Greece. The Derby of Thessaloniki, Derby of Macedonia, or Derby of Northern Greece, is a football local rivalry between Aris and PAOK, both of which are based in Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece.
