Fencing In India
Fencing in India started with the foundation of the Fencing Association of India in 1974. It was recognized by the Indian Government in 1997. It is affiliated with the Indian Olympic Association, Fencing Confederation of Asia, Commonwealth Fencing Federation and Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE). The association has been holding national competitions in Sub-Junior (1999), Cadet (2004), Junior (1992) and Senior (1986) categories, both for boys/men and girls/women. In Feb 2016, The Indian contingent at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship in Damam, Saudi Arabia won two silver and three bronze medals. Fencing Confederation Of Asia
The Asian Fencing Confederation (AFC) or Fencing Confederation of Asia (FCA) is an international body created in 1988, charged with the promotion and development of fencing in Asia. It organises the Asian Fencing Championships annually, in all levels: seniors, juniors and cadet, under 23 and veterans. Commonwealth Fencing Federation
The Commonwealth Fencing Federation is the governing body recognised by the Commonwealth Games Federation as being responsible for the running of competitions in the sport of fencing within the Commonwealth member states. The federation was formed when fencing ceased to be a core sport within the Commonwealth Games after the 1970 event. The ''Fédération Internationale d'Escrime'' ( en, International Fencing Federation), commonly known by the acronym FIE, is the international governing body of Olympic fencing. Today, its head office is at the Maison du Sport International in Lausanne, Switzerland. The FIE is composed of 157 national federations, each of which is recognized by its country's Olympic Committee as the sole representative of Olympic-style fencing in that country. Since its inception in 1913, there have been 14 presidents. Karan Singh (born 9 March 1931) is an Indian politician and philosopher. He is the titular Maharaja of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. From 1952 to 1965 he was the ''Sadr-i-Riyasat'' (President) of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the chairperson trustee of the Dharmarth Trust of Jammu and Kashmir which maintains 175 temples in north India and works in other areas such as historical preservation. Singh was a member of India's Upper House of Parliament, the Rajya Sabha, representing the national capital territory of Delhi. He is a senior member of the Indian National Congress party who served successively as President (''Sadr-i-Riyasat'') and Governor of the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
