FMW Summer Spectacular
Summer Spectacular was a major annual professional wrestling event produced by Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling during the month of August. The supercard was first held in 1990 in response to World Wrestling Federation's August event SummerSlam. The event would return and be held for two consecutive years in 1993 and 1994. The 1996 edition was subtitled "Shiodome Legend", which would become the event's name for the 1997 edition. This would be the last edition as FMW began producing pay-per-view events in 1998. Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling
Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling is a Japanese professional wrestling promotion founded on July 28, 1989, by Atsushi Onita as (FMW). The promotion specializes in hardcore wrestling involving weapons such as barbed wire and fire. They held their first show on October 6, 1989. In the late 1990s, FMW had a brief working agreement with Extreme Championship Wrestling, and as well had 14 DVDs released in the U.S. by Tokyopop. On March 4, 2015, FMW was resurrected under the name . With the resurrected FMW not holding any events since 2018, Onita announced in 2021 that he would be starting Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling-Explosion in which the promotion would specialize in exploding death matches. Masato Tanaka
is a Japanese professional wrestler, best known for his appearances with Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW) in Japan where he was a one-time FMW Brass Knuckles Heavyweight Champion and a one-time WEW World Heavyweight Champion and in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in the United States where he was a one-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion. He is currently splitting his time wrestling for both Pro Wrestling Noah (Noah) and Pro Wrestling Zero1 (Zero1). He is overall a ten-time world champion in major professional wrestling promotions. Shiodome Legend (1997)
Shiodome Legend (1997) was the fifth and final Summer Spectacular and second Shiodome Legend professional wrestling television event produced by Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW). The event took place on August 2, 1997 at Shiodome in Tokyo, Japan and aired on Samurai TV!. The main event was a no ropes exploding barbed wire deathmatch between Masato Tanaka and W*ING Kanemura for the right to face Atsushi Onita in the main event of Kawasaki Legend: Fall Spectacular. Kanemura won the match and earned a match against Onita at Fall Spectacular, which stipulated that if Kanemura lost, W*ING Alliance would disband. is a multi-purpose arena located in the Kyōbashi area of Osaka, Japan. The hall opened in 1983 and can seat up to 16,000 people. Summer Spectacular (1994) was the third Summer Spectacular professional wrestling event produced by Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW). The event took place on August 28, 1994 at the Osaka-jō Hall in Osaka, Japan. Eleven matches were contested at the event. The main event featured Atsushi Onita taking on his longtime rival Masashi Aoyagi in a no ropes electrified explosive barbed wire barricade double hell match. Onita won the match by knocking out Aoyagi. Another important match on the event was a street fight deathmatch between Mr. Pogo and Mitsuhiro Matsunaga, which Pogo won. The event also marked Eiji Ezaki's return to FMW after having worked in Mexico and his first match in FMW as Hayabusa, in which he took on Sabu in a winning effort. Hankyu Nishinomiya Stadium
was a baseball stadium in Nishinomiya, Hyōgo, Japan. The stadium was opened in 1937 and had a capacity of 35,000 people. It was used as a football and rugby stadium too. It was primarily used for baseball and was home of the Orix Braves (Hankyu Braves), until they moved to Kobe Stadium, in 1991.
