Cần Giờ Bridge
Can Gio Bridge (), is a planned cable-stayed bridge to cross over Soài Rạp, a tributary of the Saigon River in Vietnam. Description Planning and Design In order to drive between the Nha Be district and Can Gio District in Ho Chi Minh City, motorists currently have to go through the Binh Khanh Ferry Terminal, which has been receiving increasing amounts of traffic and subsequent delays. Trips across the Soai Rap river could take from fifteen to forty five minutes to cross a 1.2 kilometer span. Since 2007, there were discussions on replacing the Binh Khanh ferrys with a road cable-stayed bridge that would span the Soai Rap river. In 2019, a design was chosen for a three kilometer, four-lane, cable-stayed bridge. Soài Rạp
The Soài Rạp () is a river in Nhà Bè District, Nhà Bè district, south of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. History According to Pétrus Ky, the name ''Soài Rạp'' comes from the Khmer language word ''Pam Preak Kroy Phkam''. It joins the Vàm Cỏ in the Cần Giờ Mangrove Forest. An international port in the Soài Rạp river, Hiệp Phước, can accommodate boats of up to 50,000 tons. It began operations on 21 June 2014 and will be upgraded to accommodate vessels of up to 70,000 tons in the near future. Cần Giờ is a coastal suburban district of Ho Chi Minh City, in the Southeast region of Vietnam. The district is located 50 km from downtown Ho Chi Minh City. As of 2019, the district had an area of 704,45 km² and population of 71,526. Cần Giờ is home to Cần Giờ Mangrove Forest, a biosphere reserve listed by UNESCO. Geographical location Cần Giờ borders Nhà Bè district to the north, Long An and Tiền Giang provinces to the west, Đồng Nai province to the northeast, Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province to the southeast, and the East Sea to the south. Cable-stayed Bridge
A cable-stayed bridge has one or more ''towers'' (or ''pylons''), from which wire rope, cables support the bridge deck. A distinctive feature are the cables or wikt:stay#Etymology 3, stays, which run directly from the tower to the deck, normally forming a fan-like pattern or a series of parallel lines. Mangrove
A mangrove is a shrub or tree that grows mainly in coastal saline water, saline or brackish water. Mangroves grow in an equatorial climate, typically along coastlines and tidal rivers. They have particular adaptations to take in extra oxygen and remove salt, allowing them to tolerate conditions that kill most plants. The term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of such species. Mangroves are taxonomically diverse due to convergent evolution in several plant families. Cần Giờ Mangrove Forest
Cần Giờ Biosphere Reserve ( Vietnamese: ''Khu dự trữ sinh quyển rừng ngập mặn Cần Giờ'') or simply known as Mangrove Forest (''Rừng Sác'') is a wetland located at the eponymous coastal district that 40 km southeast away from the centre of Ho Chi Minh City. This reserve has been listed as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. The site is an important wildlife sanctuary in Vietnam as it is characterized by a wetland biosystem dominated by mangrove and many rare species. The forest's area is , with over 150 botanical species. Biodiversity value The major habitat types found at Cần Giờ include planted mangroves with 20,000 ha cover, and naturally regenerated mangroves with 7,000 ha.
