Jalilabad District (Azerbaijan)
Jalilabad District ( az, Cəlilabad rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the south-east of the country and belongs to the Lankaran-Astara Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Masally, Yardimli, Bilasuvar, and Neftchala. Its capital and largest city is Jalilabad. As of 2020, the district had a population of 225,300. Geography Territory The territory of the district primarily consists of plains and low mountains. The altitude of some mountains in the east is below sea level. The climate is mild with dry summers. The average temperature is in winter and in summer. The average amount of annual precipitation is 400–600mm. Administrative Divisions Of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is administratively divided into 66 districts () and 11 cities () that are subordinate to the Republic. Out of these, 7 districts and 1 city is located within the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The districts are further divided into municipalities (). Jalil Huseyngulu oghlu Mammadguluzadeh ( az, Cəlil Məmmədquluzadə; 22 February 1869 – 4 January 1932), was an Azerbaijani people, Azerbaijani satirist and writer. He was the founder of Molla Nasraddin (magazine), ''Molla Nasraddin'', a satirical magazine that would greatly influence the genre in the Middle East and Central Asia. Mammadguluzadeh is considered to be one of the first women's rights activists in Azerbaijan and Middle East and had a big role in founding the first women's magazine in Azerbaijan. Biography Early life Mammadguluzadeh was born in the territory of the modern-day Nakhchivan (city), Nakhchivan exclave of Azerbaijan.
